A young man, named Vido, appeared at my door saying he was selling subscriptions for KLMN Readers Svs. I usually don't give door to door people the time of day, but this young man seemed very nice and I guess I was in a generous mood. I told him I wasn't interested in getting any publications, but he stated that if I didn't want any maybe I would be interested in purchasing one as a "gift" that would be sent to: ie: homeless shelter, battered womens shelter, group home, etc. Talked to him for quite a while about various things, then decided to help him get his "quota" for the day and send one as a gift. It was only $18 and I wasn't giving him cash, so I thought I was safe. After he left, I looked at the website he gave me, which exists. I also googled the name and found many Scam Alerts for the company, especially regarding bank account #'s. I went to my bank and requested an alert be put on my account in case someone tried to access my account. I told the teller I didn't want to stop pmt on the check, because it was only $18 and stop pmt charge would probably be more than that. I thought I was covered until 3 days later, today, when the check cleared my account, it cleared for $28 not the $18 that I had written it for. The rep had the nerve to change the 18 to 28 and put my initials above it and also tried to change the written amt. The bank allowed this to go through without question. I called my bank and reported it today and they are sending it through to their fraud dept. Hopefully they can resolve this. I learned that I have been right all these years to turn away door to doors, no matter how "nice and honest" they might seem. At least I got to witness to the young man about the Lord Jesus. Maybe that seed will grow, he'll see what a sin it is to be dishonest to people, and he will quit this scamming company and get an honest job. Hope you read this Vido! You really dissapointed me!
