I received an email as a RE: Inventory Data Entry Clerk.  Since I had applied to dozens of jobs on craigslist in the preceeding days I took this to be a reply to one of my applications.

The email asked that I yahoo messanger for an online interview.  I was skeptical but I started the "chat interview" figuring maybe they wanted to see how accurate I am with my spelling, etc.  The whole time I was waiting for them to ask me to send them money, but it turns out they will be sending me computer equipment and a money order for $1950! LOL!!!!!

The person on the other end said I was supposed to use the money to pay the shipper, which is obviously a scam.  I wrote back that as soon as the money order cleared I would disburse whatever payments.

I printed the chat history just to have a record of the whole thing.  This person is obviously a foreigner as their grammer is way off.

The sad thing is I was so excited when I finally saw someone had replied to one of my job applications.  Oh well such is life.

Hmmm, maybe I'll use that money order to go to the casino...

I too responded to a job posting on Craigslist for an Admin. Asst. position when a couple of days later I received an email from Peter Smith saying the same thing. Can we do an online interview via Yahoo Messenger. I thought this was odd, but I am unemployed and need a job, so I just rolled with it.

The 1st few questions were typical job related questions & the grammar was OK, but once I was offered the position & was told I would be receiving a bunch of office equipment & a check for $3200, I started to ask questions & thats when the grammar changed (Broken English). I guess the 1st part he was reading from a script & regardless of what I said his responses would be the same, but since I'm asking detailed questions this threw him off &he didnt know how to respond (correctly, that is). Below is a list of what would be sent to me.

personell94 (10:16 AM):

Just to inform you that Sage Ltd

will be providing you with a mini office equipments that would be use for the

data compliement,the following will be sent to you

* Hp Notebook Pentium D

Duo Processor 1800 mGHZ, 120 Gigg HDD, 1G Internal Memory.

* All in One

Printer, Scanner, Fax and Photocopier Machine.

* Microsoft Office and

Microsoft Operating Systems ( Service Packs 2 )

* Mini- Office

Stationaries.

personell94 (10:16 AM):  A Check of $3200 will be issued and mail

out to you for the purchase of the following softwares that will be needed

during your orientation and training.

* $200 For BS 1 Accounting software

which is to be purchase This week.

* $250 For Peach Tree Software (US Patent

Single Users Pack)

* You deduct $200 for your self as your sign on Bonus

This is to help to Multivate staff towards commencement

* Transfer the

remaining to the Shipping agent to effect Shipping Logistics for your Equipments

Listed above.( this is to be done via Western Union money Transfer or Money Gram

You can clearly see that a check of $3200 is completely unecessary if the deductions only total $750.

So I questioned why the need for Money Gram in the 1st place. He said it was so he can see how Trustworthy I am....do you believe that.  Hilarious.
