To make a very long story shorter, I got a estimite of $900 lower than everyone else I priced. "that old saying you get what you pay for" well in this case I got more than I bargained for.
OKay, so the $900 was for a 3 day tile and drywall a bathroom. well 7 days later he says he is done. drywall tape is showing through the tape in the corners in hangin off the wall and tile looks horrific. Tiles popped up. grout has big holes in it. Tiles over lapping, just horrible work.
The last day of the job he now wants $1800 for this work. I just laughed. I had already given him $500. so he still had a few hours of work left to do, and i had to go to work (3rd shift) So We agreed on $1100 and the work would be right when he left that night. I told my wife to write him a check for $600 when he was done.
At 3AM my Wife calls me back. Saying he is raising hell about the check only being $600. So I get on the phone with him and tell him " the best thing you can do is to take you check and get out of my house!" He tells me he will take me to court he already had 7 liens on other house one more wont hurt him.
He then starts loading up my building materials into his van. My Wife was really kind of nervous the way he was yelling and acting. I told her to lock the door and call the police if he tried to come back in. After he left my house me and my wife talked on the phone all night because she didnt want to go to sleep with all this going on. When I got home and seen the work that was done I was really upset. I got online and put a stop payment on the $600 check.
9am that morning My phone rings. He then threats to come to my home and "KICK MY @$$". From here it gets really twisted.
He then post all kind of lies about me on a well known classified website. calling me a crook, punk, saying things about me cooking meth and doing meth infront of my kids. telling everyone who reads this to call DHR and the police.
since then DHR has come to my kids school and talked to them, and just 2 days ago came to my house. I had to take a drug test. I volunteered to take a hair folic test knowing this is not true and nothing to hide, so I am waiting for those test to come back in.
So the end result of all of this. I Still dont have my bathroom finished. I have a court date to go too. I have to jump through hoops to please DHR. And all of this to try and save a few hundred dollars. To top all of this I have to buy more materails and pay someone else to take out what he has messed up and do it right.
BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN LETTING SOME IN YOUR HOME!!!
