LA Fitness THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT THEIR EMPLOYEES OR MEMBERS...JUST YOUR MONEY! Naperville Illinois
As a former employee of this company, i have spent 3 years holding in my aggression about this place and with all the complaints this company gets, no one has done anything to better the conditions of this gym, for the members and especially for the employees. If off, I was fired the other day for not working enough, had nothing to do with my job performance at all and it didn't matter that a lot of clients loved to train with me, that i was employeed for three years, Jason Santos, the District VP doesn't care. I didn't get any warning, nothing telling me to increase my availability there or else I could be terminated.
My boss tried to fight for me and all that happened was that Jason threatened to fire him, there is no compromise with any of the VP's, simply, I wasn't bringing in enough money for these guys and they were mad. I go to school full-time, I volunteer at a food pantry, I have many extra-curricular activities I do like running clubs, etc...but it doesn't matter to them. This was my only income available and I didn't even break any rules, I work very hard when I'm there, if they wanted me to work more, why wasn't I booked more clients??? My availability was open enough and to me I had plenty of clients but for them to say I don't work enough, why didn't they just schedule more for me?? There are several other trainers there that are horrible trainers, terrible at what they do and they get to keep their jobs.
Beside that, it has been 4 years and the company refuses to fix their air conditioning, it gets extremely hot in the gym especially during the summer, and with the cardio equipment on the second floor and with heat rising, it's an additional 10-20 degrees hotter up there while you're running. That can be very dangerous for some people, all the other gyms and other LA Fitness I have ever walked in to have been ice cold with great air conditioning. Why hasn't this ever been fixed? People have cancelled their memberships and have complained over and over and over again for years and no one seems to care about anything. It's all about every penny being squeezed out of everyone including their employees, they have the nerve to pay everyone very little, especially the trainers where the trainers do the most in the company and make the least with no benefits what so ever, any opportunity to make some commission was taken away, no raises, nothing.
Finally, the whole gym is filthy!! Members leave so many used sweaty paper towels all over the ground and no one picks them up. The members take all the weights and leave them all around the gym without bringing them back, so there is never an option of weights to use and then all the benches are always being occupied. There are very few employees that actually clean up the gym, I was one of the few and maybe a couple others but majority of the employees leave step over all the messes and ignore it.
Simply, no one matters here and I'm sick of it!
