Beware! The LA Weight Loss Centers in Memphis and Germantown, TN are rip-offs! They lure you in with a small fee like $5 per week or $199 for all the weight you want to lose. I was stupid enough to fall for it, but I want to help others in Memphis and surrounding areas so that they do not.
Once you go to the LA Weight Loss Center, they enroll you and then on your return visit tell you that you owe another $700 for products. This happened to me and the Area Manager for Memphis "Kelly" refused to refund my money. The advertising they run on the Today Show is very mis-leading. The staff told me they had a dietician on site. Upon my next visit, they told me the dietician is actually located in Pennsylvania.
The staff at LA Weight Loss in Germantown is very unprofessional. On many visits to the center I have heard Mia, Ellen or Jamie (counselors at the center) use profanity. Several times I have seen staff members smoking and they are supposed to be working in a "health" field. I have also been told by the counselors that if they do not "sell" enough bars and vitamins, they will get fired. Many have told me that they are not trained in nutrition, but how to sell LA Weight Loss products. I do not know if this is the case nationwide or just in Memphis and Germantown, TN LA Weight Loss.
Every visit I had to the center between late 2006 and early 2007 had a different staff member working. Most of the staff is heavy themselves. A member of their staff told me the owner in Birmingham is greedy and all about money and not the health of the clients. They went as far to say that many of the products actually slow your weight loss down so that you will be on the program for a longer period of time. How healthy, huh?
My weight-loss has not been good with the program after paying a lot of money. One counselor told me that most people do not reach their goal with LA Weight Loss that most just quit the program discouraged. It's all about getting the clients money, honey.
The expose on 20/20 got me thinking and I am very dissappointed that I ever enrolled. Everything on these boards is true about LA Weight Loss--including the centers in Memphis and Germantown, TN.
Make sure you investigate before signing on the dotted line! (and giving them your credit card number!)

It has been over a month since my last update. The LA Weight Loss here in Memphis and Germantown has still failed to help me. I spoke to someone named Gerri at the Wolfchase Center who said Kelly was the ultimate decision maker and to call her at Germantown. When I did, I could hear a girl cover the phone and say "it's someone complaining again".... My credit card company told me to try and work it out with the merchant (LA Weight Loss in Germantown/Memphis) first before disputing the charge. It's impossible to when Kelly will not even take my calls and each center tells me she is working at another center. Several women at my church have told me they had similar experiences with LA Weight Loss in Germantown and Memphis, TN. All have told me they ended up feeling swindled, taken, or "sold" and that the service was very bad. Just wanted to keep everyone updated on my experience with LA Weight Loss in Memphis. Jane

I talked to my credit card company who said they have recieved multiple complaints about the delivery services of LA Weight Loss all over the country. She took a dispute claim from me and is going to contact the company because of mis-representation and non-delivery of services as described. She is going to work with the LA Weight Loss in Germantown or Memphis to get a resolution to my complaint. Because the staff of LA Weight Loss was so rude and unresponsive, I am not sure I will get any results but I hope so. I noticed the LA Weight Loss Center in Germantown that I used to go to has moved into a much smaller location in a tucked away area. It is like less than half the size it used to be! Seems like they are either trying to hide, or their finances must not be doing well. Hope they are not going bankrupt! Wish me luck in getting my refund on this ripoff of a service!
