The owner said you could get your contract cancelled. What did the contract say? Every health club I have joined in the past (several Bally's, Gold's etc.) specifically states in their contract that you cannot cancel due to closure of one location if there is another within a reasonable distance. Not exact wording but words to that effect. The contracts for these clubs are usually 2-3 pages and most people are so tempted by a nice facility, marketing offers, etc. that they simply sign the contract without reading it. A contract is a contract. If there are provisions that an individual "location" is not a guarantee then nothing was done wrong by the company.

It's unfortunate that happened to you. Others should know that not all LWE clubs are like yours. The owners at the club I go to are very understanding about life situations and will freeze memberships if requested. It sounds like you had a problem with this particular manager and NOT the company as a whole.
