Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

I moved into Riley Chase in 2006. It was then "Projects". Riley Chase had a very bad reputation for drug dealing/using, violence and no upkeep on the apts. I had gotten section 8 and there were literally no other 1bdrm apts to move to at the price range I was alotted. It really wasn't too bad there. I lived in the back which was nice because I am older and really wanted quiet. The play areas and pool are toward the front.

Things went along fairly well for a while. When I moved in the parking lot/street was Panacea Blvd. Then it was changed to Riley Chase Blvd (no divider so blvd?) Anyway a year or so after I moved in they lost their tax credits or something because it was no longer income restricted. Omg, people working in the office were so happy "now we can get rid of those poor people". Well gosh, who did they think would be living in projects?

So, it became the Fountains of North Port. Along with losing the income restriction, they lost their maintenance. It became harder to get things repaired. The only thing they were really big on was pests, insects. There was an addendum in the lease about mold, but I never saw anything done about the mold in my window. I was told to clean it with bleach. Thing is I was on the second floor and the mold was on the outside of the window with a screen, there was no way for me to get to the mold.

Air conditioners frequently broke down. They would fix them, but they broke again, fix again...

Now we are called Ohana Way and the Lakes of North Port.

When I moved to Riley Chase Apts the rent for a 1 bdrm was $501/mo. Included was reduced cable and washer/dryer. From what I have read lately, the 1bdrms are now $800/mo.

What is different to have such a rent increase? I have gone by there and seen nothing different. They were built as projects and will always look like projects. So what are people living there getting for that high rent that we did not get when it was tax credited?
