My son purchased a 2000 Jeep Cherokee from Landis Enterprises for $7000 and the vehicle was presented by the company as having been checked and ok'd. On his way home, after driving for 45 minutes, from purchasing the vehicle it began to malfunction. Ultimately he took it to a Jeep dealership service center to be checked and it requires $800 worth of repairs, none of which are covered by the "special" full warranty he purchased. He attempted to contact the dealership where he purchased the vehicle and they basically refused to make it right. Their alternative was for my son to purchase the parts and they would have their mechanics work on the vehicle. First of all their mechanics missed the problem in the first place, secondly their work would not be guaranteed if he purchased the parts on his own. He agreed to pay the cost of the parts if they let the current service center fix the vehicle and they refused. So he would have had to pay another fee if he removed his vehicle without jeep doing the repairs in addition to the parts he was to purchase. He also paid $160 to another garage to diagnose the problem and it was misdiagnosed. This particular garage was one on the list of those to use to fulfill the warranty, but still they did not cover it.

For identification my son is Steve Croft, dba as the Dust Doctor - i completed this report because I already have an account set up with your web site.

Next time your interested in buying a used vehicle, take it to a reputable mechanic and ask him to carefully inspect it. If you have to pay a few dollars to do this, pay it. It will be cheaper than having the vehicle break down at some inconvenient moment after you buy it in full. Used Car dealers are experts in hiding vehicle defects from laypeople. Better yet, take a loan and buy a new car. They are warranteed against defects.
