Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I was contacted by phone on 02-02-09 by a person who said was from the Federal Trade Commission, he did leave me his number. He said that I had won a sweepstakes for $455,000.00 and it would have expired had I not been found to claim it by 02-04-09. He instructed me to call a Bonded Trust Attorneys Office furnishing me with that phone number as well as the same of the attorney I was to speak to. When I did speak to the attorney in question, this person said that I would need to insure my winnings at 1% of the amount; about 4,550.00. I told him I didn't have that kind of money and he said that the FTC would in these cases put out half of the amount to facilitate obtaining my prize. That's where I stopped because I don't know what else to do.

It seems to me that if I in effect have won, then they shouldn't make it so complicated to receive the prize.

Please comment on this. It's very frustrating that this is happening to me.

Thank you,

Rose

There was a recent article in the Florida Bar News about the company that Las Vegas Dreams LLC is sending people to in order to collect their winnings: http://www.floridabar.org/DIVCOM/JN/JNnews01.nsf/8c9f13012b96736985256aa900624829/582c3a05eb440f37852575700069a551?OpenDocument As you can see, this is very questionable to say the very least. Recently, a relative of mine was contacted by this company (in NV reportedly) telling him that he had won the same cash amount $ 455,000.00. He was then told he had to pay a fee for insuring the check being sent to this group "Florida Bonded Trust Company." When he contacted them, they were very helpful and EVEN offered to pay half of the insurance fee for him (a temporary comp they told him). Only a mere $1500.00, that he could put on his credit card (they told him). The sad part is that this person is financially in a bad way... and $1500 is a huge amount for this guy. Thank god he had the common sense to call someone to at least check it out before blindly giving his credit card over the phone! Be very very carefull of this and other companies operating with similar marketing techniques. If you truly won a contest, worst case, why couldn't you show up in person or have a legal courier pick up your winnings? This just seems bad all around. If I hear anything else from my relative about this I will update with additional info. MY ADVICE, if you are contacted by this company and told to contact FLORIDA BONDED TRUST ATTORNEYS--- use the link in the article above to get information on submitting a complaint to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE). Contact a similar Nevada Law enforcement agency as well. This as got to stop!

Rose, If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is. Think about it. Did you enter a sweepstakes? Have you never in your life seen this kind of scam before? When they [the "lawyers"] answered the phone, did they answer it in a business name? Did you take just a minute to look up the number to see if it is a legitimate listed business phone#? Did you look up the attorney with the Bar Association? I am simply amazed that people can fall for these scams. This is just plain old fashioned common sense. Do you have any common sense? I strongly believe that there is something in the water in CA that makes people stupid.

Did you enter this sweepstakes? If not, then you didn't win this sweepstakes. very simple. In case you haven't guessed, it's a scam to get your money. Don't pay and don't talk with them anymore.
