I dated Laurie Hibbett briefly (big, big mistake but there you go) and whilst we were dating he convinced me and my brother to invest in his business Anglia LED Lighting Ltd. We gave him £15,000 between us and were promised at least 50% return over 2 years and he guaranteed our initial amount.
After 6 months we were supposed to receive our first repayment but nothing came. We tried to contact Laurence Hibbett about this but he refused to answer our calls. My brother went to the business premises on Rackheath Industrial Estate but there the business looked like it had already closed down.
When we eventually tracked him down at his house he denied ever borrowing any money off us and threatened my brother. The certificates he had given us of the loan were bogus.
I am a single parent and am struggling with this loss of money to provide for my daughter and cant believe I was so stupid.
As we found out later our money never even made it to the business and he never planned on repaying us. The business we later discovered was a scam selling cheap chinese equipment that failed to meet UK safety standards.
My advice is to stay well clear of this sleazy slimey fraudster. He can turn on the charm, take what he wants then run away leaving a mess, he obviously doesnt have an ounce of moral fibre about him. My advice based on what I know is do not get involved with this crookster, do not lend him or give him any money, do not leave him with your children, do not employee him, do not trust him, do not go into business with him. Stay well clear for your own good.
