I had a 4 year lease for a virtual terminal and the contract was paid in full in April 03. Leasecomm said I also had to pay $300.00 to buy out the contract and "own" the equipment. This is NOT stated in on my contract. I sent them a certified letter explaining that no more phone contact would be acceted. Only written. I also told them my contract was up in April and paid in full. Any attempt to force payment or report negitive credit would be viewd as fraud and I would file in small claims court for damages. Furthermore they DO NOT OWN ANYTHING. All software is owned by authorize.net, my merchant bank is my own bank. They can't sell something they do not own. If I were you I would send a certified letter spelling out YOUR TERMS and explain the contract you have with YOUR REAL signiture is the one you will take to court. Anything else will be viewed as fraud and you will take action. Believe me, now that they have been sued by the FTC and lost they will back off.
