Jim, if you and your wife are banking on a secured credit card to pay for Cristmas for your kids then you have more serious problems. Here is a solution for next year: How about opening a Christmas Club account at your local bank or Credit Union. This allows you to put away a few dollars every month and just before Christmas they give a you a check (your money) to spend any way you like. This is actual cash that you saved and you do not have to rely on credit to buy christmas gifts. If you say you can not afford to put away $25 - $50 bucks a month in a savings account then How are you going to pay the minimum credit card payments each month? Do not say that a credit card compay ruined your Christmas, you did by not planning for it.
