Your complaint only tells one side of the story. As for LeVan Music, he acquired the rights to the name 'Coco Levan' after she left the company and can continue to use it at his discretion. Legally she cannot. Just because he has the right to use it doesn't mean he should. Personally, the name sounds like a stripper rather than a serious artist. Your friend promotes herself as a "Nashville star" because she claims to have sang at the Grand Ole Opry and with Dolly Parton and Porter Wagoner some years ago. Your friend now only performs in small clubs around the midwest and obscure clubs when in Nashville. Does that really rise to the level of "Nashville star"? She does not perform on a major circuit either in Nashville or the Midwest. She may know smaller players on the Nashville circuit but there is no such thing as star by association. As for the history for the company written on the website, your friend had just as much influence when writing it as did her ex as they originally ran the company together. If it is embellished, who embellished it? She continues to claim "Nashville star." What does he claim? He runs karaoke, DJ services, and is working to revive the live entertainment. He has an excellent reputation in the places where he is established and continues to build his base. There are no lawsuits or accusations except from his now ex-wife and her friends.
