I called L.L. to check them out...the operator said, "We are a law firm that disputes negative info on credit reports." She would not admit that they are a credit repair organization. On the internet, they claim to do "credit repair". As a credit repair organization, they are subject to the "Credit Repair Organizations Act" which states, a credit repair org. cannot charge up-front fees for any work agreed upon until that work is completed. They DO charge an up-front fee and call it a "retainer" even though you are not hiring a lawyer in the usual sense. They claim this money goes toward setting up your file. That's known as "WORK" and falls under the afore- mentioned law. These guys take advantage of people who are experiencing hard times due to erroneous information on their reports! I say, call and report them to the FTC and put them out of business!!!

"your an idiot", I sure wouldn't hire a firm who can't determine the PROPER usage of the English language for using you are. Lexington must be the Kmart or Walmart version of the legal profession.

First, what kind of idiot thinks that they can hire an attorney for 99$ and 39$ a month! Get out of your trailer home and look for a job so you can pay an attorney the 200$ an hour they charge, or be happy with a paralegal that you get at lexington. Second, if you have spent 20,000$ on credit cards and think there is some way to magically erase it, you are an idiot!! If you have old collections, or late payments, or paid items, there is a good chance that lex, or a couple other law firms that do credit repair can help, but it will probably take time. You have probably been irresponsible for 10 years, it wont be fixed in 10 days.

You are most likely mistaken about this so called law. You are correct in the sense that they cannot charge for credit repair but they CAN charge a membership fee and the membership entitles you to credit repair. However, they do have to let you know this up front ( and this does not mean they have to tell you, you may want to read your contract a little closer, im sure it is in there) I am also going to be a another side of the coin person here and say that people needing credit repair about 99% of the time are not people who got into car accidents and couldn't pay their bills a wile. Most of these people will sit in my office and lie to my face about their credit pointing out that almost everything on their credit isn't theirs. I find it very hard to believe that 9 customers out of 10 that some in my office are victims of identity theft and/or fraud. The reasoning for retainers, down payments or even just membership entrance fee (that is what we call ours) is because some customers used to pay all upfront, never get us things we needed and then demand a refund and call us frauds or worse falsely accuse us of never doing anything and reporting us to the State Attorneys office or BBB. Now we get better results if we have a membership entrance fee of $100.00 because first, we know the customer is committed and second, the cost to open a file get everything we need and do one dispute and call the customer over and over again to get said results into our office 35 to 60 dollars in wages paper and calls. If we have 200 customers decide they do not like what happened (and most will but say they wont to get something for free) we are out There are too many people out there trying to get something for free. We have many customers who fixate on one account they want deleted and ignore the 50 other deletions they have received. So many people are rip off's themselves. Granted, we have a very fair SPECIFIC refund policy in place and we let the people know that if they DO pay a FULL amount up front it will be up to THEM on how fast the first dispute on the credit goes out because if they do not WORK with us we cannot do anything at all for them, and usually if after a specified amount of time passes or a certain amount of calls, e-mails and letters have been sent to a said individual for documentation and reports and they do NOT get us these things after paying the money we send them a letter stating exactly what we have tried to do to get these things from them ( we keep a copy for ourselves in letter form and also in our system because it loggs notes) along with a 10 day notice stating that if they do not get us the things, we will cancel their service and they receive a refund and not be able to use us again due to not working with us. This also goes for dead beats that we really try to help by only charging them 50 bucks a month for a 1,000-dollar lifetime membership. They will get most of the things deleted off their report and then skip out on the rest of the payments, this happens in our company about 70% of the time. We have now implemented a new cancellation policy in our contracts stating that if you sign up for a membership and stop the payments you will be charged 150 dollars per deletion on your report. However, the person above was right, we cannot do anything to collect this money. I have to side with the credit repair company on this one. Only because my ONLY job in this corporation is to try to make customers give me everything I need to just START their account. With this job I am on the phone 5 days a week 8 hours a day, and still about 40% of these people get their coupons or money sent back to them because they will not work with us. However, we are a NICE company, we know that if we did not do anything for the customer they deserve their money back. This is not a law, you may very well have signed something in that contract stating that if you did not get things they asked for in a timely manner that they could keep your money. Question for ya? What EXACTLY did you give these people? They would need your drivers license WITH YOUR CURRENT MAILING ADDRESS ON IT, either a copy of your social security card or a copy of your W2 AND your reports. If you did not get these things to them, you did not do your job. Credit repair is a partnership. This is something I tell every customer that comes through my door. If you cannot work with me and get me the things I need, I cannot be the liaison between you and the credit bureaus and they just need to do their own disputes. You can do some things yourself though, like I don't know, pay your bills? Or do you own disputes.

First of all they are attorneys. They are independent, but they are all have license to practice law.Yes the paralegals do the paperwork on their behalf. I used to be a paralegal and I know.Just try and call any one of the three credit bureaus and speak to them. They do not care about letters you write to them. If you want problems on your credit reports deleted, you need someone who puts a 100# teeth bite in the letters to them. They have succeed in removing many things from mine. Bankruptcy, and reposession. Just try to do that on your own some time. My scores have dramaticially improved. They are worth the money, cheap retainer and monthly fee to change your life. Bad credit reports will keep you for having anything in life.

On one hand...I agree with you. Lexington Law Firm just uses the guideline of being a law office to avoid having to go through the process of being bonded and having to be approved by the Atty. Generals Office. As a rule of thumb, any "lawyer" that would reduce themselves to doing a job as simple as credit repair can't possibly be a successful lawyer. Actually, the law has changed years back. Even if you are a lawyer, you still have to be registerred and bonded if the majority of your work is credit repair. On the other side of the coin, Lexington Law Firm charges very little compared to companies of the same nature. Granted, their performance is amongst the worst, but cost wise they are very cheep. As a credit repair company, your clientelle already has the history of not paying their bills. How can you ask a company to work on someone's credit and then hope and pray that they get paid for their work after they're done, when the people they're helping don't pay their bills in the first place??? You may be an exception, but as someone who ownes a credit repair company myself (A bonded and registered one), I can tell you for a fact that around 95% of the people who hire a credit repair company are not poor innocent victims. Most of the poeple that hire a credit repair company do so because they consciously decided that they don't care that their credit was ruined. They don't care, that is...until they really need it. And I'll tell you this...if we didn't take anything up front...we'd be out of business. Statistically...almost 50% of our clientelle has bailed out on us after we'd done the work and requested payment for it. And of course, the bureaus won't let us report, because a credit repair company is not allowed to do any sort of reporting to the bureaus. I'm only responding so that you see the other side of the coin. Believe me, I could care less if Lexington went out of business..their service level sucks from all those that I speak to that dealt with them...but you have to understand it's a business...a business to make money..not to provide a charity only to get ripped off later by those that don't want to pay for the work that was done for them.
