Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

Larry Hypes was to update the electric in my home. The estimate for the job was $900.00. I paid $600.00 up front for what was supposed to materials, permits, etc. I paid some in cash and some in check. (My first mistake).

He went directly to my bank and cashed the check within 1 hr of my writing it!!

Even before work began and he was "supposedly waiting for the permits" he asked for more money. When I questioned him he cursed and tried to make me seem the bad guy (I am a woman). He said he isn't used to being questioned and he doesn't "operate this way". He was extremely rude, filthy mouthed and arrogant. I have since learned that he NEVER applied for any permits.

This all began at the end of May 2009. I have been asking for my money back for months. First I was told I would have it that weekend as he "needed to return the materials to Home Depot". Then I was told "the check is in the mail". Next, we was "bringing it down from up in north Jersey" and would bring it to the house. Another time he even said he would be there within the hour. Finally I got another "check is in the mail".

I asked him several times where his business was located and EVERY time he evaded to "up north".

Good news is I do have his license plate number and I can easily get this drivers license info from the check he did cash. I am more than willing to share this info to anyone else who needs help and has had the misfortune of having dealt with him.

Probably not his car

I have had many dealings with this con artist.  I can assure you that the car he was driving was not registered to him and it was most likely a rental car, or a car that he borrowed from someone else.  He is a professional con artist but good luck in trying to find him.

He's still acting at though the "checks in the mail". I now have both his license plate # and his drivers license # to share with others who have had the misfortune of dealing with him. Enough reports filed against him and it's just a matter of time....

Wow, I am amazed that this guy is still doing the same thing.  I have known him since 2005 and a few years ago, he has tried to talk me into using my credit cards, cashing a check, co-signing for him, etc.  Always uses foul language and takes advantage of women.  I cannot believe that he doesn't get into trouble with the law.

If you search for his name on the internet, you will find several other people complaining about him and/or looking for him because he owes them money.  I note that you wrote down his license plate number -- I'm sure that the car is a rental or borrowed from someone else.
