During the middle of May I had an issue with my truck overheating which came to be the egr cooler causing head gasket failure. After speaking to a friend about it he suggested that I contact a company Liberator Performance in Carisle PA. In early June I spoke to Shawn from Liberator Performance and exlained the situation I was in and also went over a detailed list of services I would like to have performed on my truck. ( Egr cooler delete, head o-rings, emission control delete, oiler cooler, hi-performance tune ) Shawn quoted me a price of between minium $4,000 and maxium $5,000 depending on how much r&r the heads would need. I agreed to that price and dropped the truck off about a week later.
After about a week of the company having the truck Shawn call me and asked how long the truck sat for after the problem. I explained it had only sat for about a week and it was driven up onto the back of the truck that towed it out to them. Shawn suggested that I allow him to hone the cylinders stating that there was a lot of rusting and pitts and that he would take 1/4 of a thousands off for an extra $1,000, I told him no that it would work itself out and as we ended the conversation Shawn did not seem happy with my decision. The following week Shawn called again suggesting we allow him to install a new, bigger turbo that he had for an extra $3,000 so that we will get the full effect of the new kit been placed on the truck. Again I stated no, and explained that the turbo on the truck was only 6 months old and we had never had a problem with it. The following week I called Shawn to see how everything was coming allong with the truck and he informed me that he installed a new injector, because one of them was bad. I found that to be alittle odd since we had just tested all the injectors not 2 days before we delivered the truck to Shawn, but since he had already supositly installed it I decided not to say anything about not being notified before performing the service. A few days later Shawn called me to inform me that he would have to install a new turbo in the truck since the one that was in the truck had gone bad. At this point I was starting to feel some kinda way about his pratices, I made it clear to him that there was nothing wrong with the turbo when we droppped the truck off to him, so he decided to send pictures to me. I explained that somehthing did not seem right and that it would be very easy for him to take a picture of any one of the turbos he had laying around and claim it to be mine. At that comment Shawn became very aggervated and stated to me that he did not have any turbo laying around that he sends all turbos back to Garrett as soon as they come out of a truck so that he can recieve the core charge back. Not wanting to have any more discussions over the phone I asked him to call me with the cost of the final bill and when I would be able to pick up my truck. A short time later Shawn called and informed me that the bill owed was $6,700 and would be another $2,000 if we wanted a new turbo. I told him to put my turbo back on the truck and I would be up to pick up the truck. On tuesday July 6 we made to 2 hour drive to retreive our truck. When we finally reach the shop I went to speak to Shawn and asked to see the itemized bill and figure out why the bill was $1,700 over the orginal quote. While looking the bill over I notice that they had installed a new starter, when I question Shawn on why I was not given a phone call to inform me of a statrter problems, his response was " its only $350 more dollars" also there was a new belt tensioner on the truck again his comment to that was " its only another $180". At this point my driver and myself were quite upset with his practices, and explained that we had already purchased a new starter incase the one in the truck went bad. Also while inspeting the engine my driver took notice to the turbo on the truck it was definately not the turbo we had on the truck when it was dropped off. Our orginal turbo was very new looking with no signs of oil leaks, this turbo was rusty and filled the valley with oil. Again the pictures were brought to Shawns attention by my driver, and again the statement about it being a different turbo in the pictures was brought up. Shawn again became very upset asking if we were calling him a liar since he had no turbos laying around until my drive point out one used on the self and several used ones lying around on the ground. Knowing that he was just caught in a lie, Shawn attemped to change the subject. The driver took the truck for a test drive and noticed it had more power when it was broke then it now had. He also noticed on the test drive that the A/C was not working. After being at the shop for 5 hours and several attemps to get the A/C working again, my drive suggested scanning the trucks computer to see if there were any codes that may discribe the reason for the A/c issue we were having. Nothing came up for the A/c but an intake code did show up. We asked them if that is the problem with the turbo not have any power and the said NO. Shawn had suggested that since they were missing something with the a/c he would give us a good used 2006 turbo and install it without adding anymore price to the bill. Since it was 9pm we agreed and started driving the 2 hours back home. The next day Wensday July 7, we started out on another 2 hour drive to retrieve the truck, again. When we arrived Shawn was not there, so we spoke to the mechanic who stated that the truck was still under power, even though he had personal took the new/used turbo apart to make sure it was good. They could not figure out what the problem was. Finally one the the maechanics decided to check out the intake code that showed up during the scan, he pulled the part, cleaned it, installed it and the truck ran fine. Tha tshows us that htere was never a problem withour turbo, and we strongly feel that in an efford to make more money Shawn replaced our good turbo with a bad turbo, and only attemped to fix the problem once we scanned and for a code. Also he never showed up to speak to us the second day we were there, that shows mee that he attemped to scam us out of more money, until he was caught up in his own lies.  Unfortunatly there is still no a/c in the truck and on the drive home a check engine lite came on. Also we now have a turbo from 2006 instead of the 6 month old turbo the truck had in it.
While we were in Carisle on wensday we spoke to a police officer about the situation, he explained that Liberator Performance has several complaints filed at the local court house, which we have also filed a complaint at the same court house

I got Liberator Performance , to do some work on my truck and I will not go back , Shawn does not stand behind his work or his guy that installs the Bully Dog chips they did a crappy job of hooking my chip up and the screen burned out when I was using my spotlight here they wired my screen to the power outlet. When I call them up they said they could not help me, it was less then 3 month after they installed it ,what they should have done is wired it to the battery and put a relay in , I would not recommend them to anyone , and Shawn will get mad when you ask him why he did not do a good job .very lousy work

The only reason BBB had no findings is because I was dumb enough to take Liberator by their word on the quote. I have since learned my lesson and with always recieve quotes in writting. I have spoken to several of their customers since and all have told me that they are known for that practice. Also if BBB found no fault, why is it on the BBB website that Liberator has done this in the past?
