Did you return your plates to the Massachutes RMV and then turn the receipt over to Liberty Mutual? I see on the RMV website that you must do this so they probably have a similar requirement to NY. In NYS, you must turn your plates into the DMV and then turn the receipt into your insurance company. If you do not, they cannot cancel your insurance. If in turn, they then cancel your insurance due to non-payment, you will owe the state a fine of $8.00 per day for all the days you still had the plates but no insurance. I'm not sure how MA handles it but I do see that it does require you to hand in your plates and give the receipt to the insurance company.
