Maria Cruz, branch manager at the Liberty Savings Federal Credit Union on Newark Avenue in Jersey City will lie to get a loan closed.
This woman outright and blatant lied to both my mother and lie, in order to get me to close on an auto loan with her credit union.
My name is Corey and I had a auto loan in the past from this same credit union with no problems. I paid off that loan and went to inquire about a new loan because I needed to get a new car. I was told by Ms. Cruz that I needed my mother to sign, not as a cosigner but for just insurance purposes. Now, I made it quite clear that I wanted to get this loan on my own, or I would not take the loan. When my mother, Phyllis, came in she also made it quite clear that she DID NOT want to cosign on any loan. Ms. Cruz again explained to my mother that she was not cosigning the loan, but that she was merely signing for insurance purposes.
My mother signed the papers. Now, I have lost my job and I have a new job but it pays less money. I still want to keep my car, so I am willing to file a chapter 13 so that I can continue making payments so that I can keep my car, but now the credit union is calling my mother telling her that she cosigned for the loan, so she is responsible for making the payments for my car. We had told Ms. Cruz that I did not want my mother to cosign (because I would not have taken the loan), and my mother did not want to cosign either.
I have dealt with this bank before but with a prior auto loan and has a loyal customer and I am VERY upset that they would allow a person to work for them that would make a loan purposefully under falsehood and lies. I want my mother taken off of this loan as a cosigner and I am willing to see an attorney, call "Help Me Howard", "7 on Your Side", or whatever it takes, because I will not let her get away with this.
This credit union should be reported to the Better Business Bureau. DO NOT GET A LOAN FROM LIBERTY SAVINGS FEDERAL CREDIT UNION in Jersey City!!

I got the orginal address wrong for Liberty Savings Federal Credit Union in Jersey City, the correct address is 666 Newark Avenue, Jersey City, NJ. They also have a Greenville Branch at 1590 Kennedy Blvd., Jersey City, NJ. Do not get a loan from Maria Cruz or any of theie staff members. I tried to contact them from the president James Miller,Sr., his son, James Miller, Jr., and Maria Salarzano, the vice president to solve this problem, no one has contacted me. Also their whole staff is rude. They are a terrible place, stay away from both branches, any business that can consciously conduct business in this matter should be shut down; they give credit unions a bad name. TAKE YOUR MONEY to a more HONEST and CARING credit union in Jersey City, don't leave your money there. I will spread the word to everyone I know.
