charged us 205 dollars to prepare fed taxes, plus 69 to file fed tax, 300 for RAL. Cost us over 500 dollars when filing is free and most places don't charge more than 50 to prepare.

ok,from what i see here, the 205 charge was for filling out the forms.the 69 dollar charge is probably for filling out the bank application and processing.the 300 dollar fee goes DIRECTLY to the bank that financed your REFUND LOAN. the RAL is a R.efund A.ntisipation L.OAN. THE COST YOU WOULD OF HAD IF YOU HAD PAID UP FRONT WOULD OF BEEN 205. the rest of your cost was because you went through the bank to get a loan on your refund amount AND for that bank to send LIBERTY the 205 you owed them for compleating the return. at my location we walk thru all charges for the client, and we have them sign all paperwork,ie:bank application,8879form for efiling,a statement of understanding, privacy policy,a filing sheet that shows all products we offer(paper, efile, ral, rac)and how they are paid. i belive all our locations use similar papers. as brian would agree, this is a service oriented business you are paying for us to fill out your paperwork, keep it on file for three years, submit a loan application on your behalf, ect. there are many ways to file of course,on the internet(2 to 3 weeks)do your own and mail it (6 to 8 weeks)or go to the local IRS and have them do it (6 to 8 weeks) all of these are free. i assume you read ALL the paperwork that they had you sign, and knowingly signed them. you seemed shocked in hinesight. all tax prep company charges money, thats how we lease the office, keep the lights on,train and employ our staff, ect. i personally would not get a RAL unless my kids were starving or getting forclosed on. please for you peace of mind, look over all documents before signing. our company tries our hardest to be the lowest compared to the other big name companies, but i have never seen any of then do a long form for 50 bucks. and unlike some,we do not charge a sitting fee,so after you saw the charges, you were in your rights to get up,take back your w2's and walk out. do don't get the forms, but they cannot keep the info you brought in. about the RAL charge, you should contact the bank it went through to have them explain those intrest charges. sorry for going on so long. i hope this helps.if not,go to our corp. web site and get the phone # for viginia beach main office. there you can file a complaint on the franchise owner. belive me,when we get a call like that,we promtly handle it. i don't think i know this owner, but i have met at least 200 over the years, these are pretty good people, and they strive to make all of thier clients feel they got good service.

There is no Liberty Tax Service at 3030 Washington Rd. in Martinez, GA. There is one, however at 4015 Washington Road. Did you mean H&R Block, maybe? Or was the address typed incorrectly? thanks, BD (please see my precious submission on this report.)

I find it kind of hard to understand why you paid so much for services

As a tax preparer with Liberty, I find it kind of hard to understand why you paid so much for services; you received an invoice/bill when you had your taxes done; what is the breakout, ie: how many forms did we have to file for you? If you e:filed, or that is, we e:filed for you, there is no charge (IF we do your taxes). Also, don't understand why the RAL cost over $300.00, unless your refund was in the neighborhood of $10,000 or so. You should have a statement for the RAL which should indicate the refund, the amounts charged for the RAL, and the amounts of the first (and maybe) second check. Post those and I will review. regards,
