Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I worked for Journey's for nearly a year.  I have vast experience in retail, and have previously managed other retail stores.  I started working at Journey's part time to supplement my income.  Within a month or so, I was promoted to assistant manager at a wonderful store that I loved.  A few months after that, I was delighted to be promoted a manager of my own store.

I became the manager by default because the manager who preceded me had failed his audit, meaning he had a large shrink in his inventory.  Because of this, on my second day, I was forced to terminate everyone except my assistant manager.  I scrambled to hire a GOOD STAFF, and transferred an employee I had managed at my previous location.

Shortly before Christmas, it was discovered my assistant was doing false returns and pocketing the cash, creating a shrink in MY inventory.  Company policy states every time there is a change in management, an audit NEEDS to be done.  I received no such audit, but my DM promoted one of my employees to assistant manager.  Things worked out JUST fine with her, until I started having cash shortages in the register.  They started off small, nothing that I could prove was her, but then one of my other employees said they OBSERVED her stealing from the register.  That day, my drawer was $100 short exactly, so I terminated her.  Again, I did not get an audit.  It wasn't until weeks later that two mall employees told me she had given them FREE shoes, or sold them shoes for cash in her pocket.  I began to panic.

For weeks and weeks I had to work open to close until I could find another assistant.  Mind you, I was pregnant at the time and it was beginning to take a serious toll on me.  I begged my district manager to come up with a solution to the problem, and knowing I was pregnant, he temporarily promoted one of my part timers.

My store was spinning out of control.  I got phone calls from security telling me customers complained of the smell of alcohol coming from the store, and the same night, my most reliable employee told me he was actually SCARED of my assistant, and that he suspected he was stealing.  I must not have any luck.  I drove 45 minutes to work, which gave them plenty of time to dispose of the evidence.  I called my DM in an outrage, and he told me to stay at the store until close, and that I was having an audit tomorrow.  I told him I was concerned about my job security because of the two previous assistants, and the situation at hand with my temporary assistant.    I had gone through three assistants, 2 of which were fired for proven theft, and one who was suspected of theft.  He brushed it off.....

The next day my audit was outrageous....I was missing a LOT of inventory, most of which were a ladies size 9 (which was my second assistant's shoe size...not that it could prove anything), and oddly enough, no ladies size 6 were missing, which is MY size.  That didn't exactly help my case.  I did subsequently suffer a miscarriage, with no condolences from the company, and was then terminated.  Go figure.
