Lifewise of Oregon Lifewise Insurance, Lifewise Health Insurance, Lifewise of Washington Accepted our application then raised our rates by $300/month a few months later. It's a for profit company. Portland, Oregon
Lifewise Insurance is a ripoff. I lost my job and we needed new insurance last year. Lifewise advertised as one of the most affordale companies here in Oregon. So I completed all the paperwork for my family middle of 2009 and was excepted by Lifewise a month later. We had to pay Lifewise $700/month for a family of five. We later discovered Lifewise only covers generic drugs. Sadly, the only drug that helps one of my sons (Concerta) is not made in a generic. So we have to pay the full amount for that drug out of pocket which adds another $120/month.
Then, four months later Lifewise raised our rates to over $1000/month. Nothing changed on our end... no surgeries or big illness... just a nice little bait and switch on their part. Coincidently, Lifewise started advertising aggressively. We started seeing television commercials and print ads everywhere.
So now, less than a year later, we are looking for another Insurance company but this time I'm going to find a non-profit that covers the drug that my family needs. These for profit companies cannot be trusted. It only makes sense they are in it to make money. It is clear by how they treated my family they don't care about providing quality healthcare at affordable rates. Stay away from Lifewise.
