I entered into a 6 month lease agreement June 1, 2011 - December 31, 2011 with The Links at the Rock in North Little Rock, AR.  In August 2011, I received a job offer in Dallas, TX.  I approached the property about how to get out of the lease due this relocation.  I was told that I would have to pay $2000+ to get out of the current lease.  The amount that they were requesting was just as much as it would have been to stay in the lease.  I opted to continue paying the lease as agreed until December.

On October 4, 2011, I sent a letter stated that I would not be renewing the lease and the apartment will be vacated on December 31, 2011.  Since I no longer lived in Arkansas, I asked a friend to turn in the keys for me to the apartment.  The property closed early on December 31 and the keys were not able to be turned in until they opened the afternoon of January 1, 2012.

Approximately, 1 hour after the keys were turned in, the property called me stating that because the keys were turned in on the 1st and not the 31st that I have entered into a new 6 month lease agreement with them and if I want out of the agreement I have to buy out the lease and pay them another $2000+.  I told them that I was not going to pay to enter into another agreement because the apartmen was vacated on December 31st as agreed and a notice to vacate had been sent to them.  I would agree to pay for 1 extra day since the keys were not turned in until the 1st, but that was it.  They told me that if I didn't pay they would just submit it to a collection agency and it would go against my credit.

On January 4, 2011, I check my checking account balance to find that there is a pending automatic draft for $845, the monthly rental amount from the previous agreement.  I have called the bank and they are going to try to help me get my money back, but this is ridiculous and absurd.

I want the unauthorized automatic drafts to stop and my money returned because they have the keys and I am no longer in that apartment. I also do not want this to effect my credit negatively.  I am still willing to pay for the 1 extra day that they can deduct out of the security deposit that they owe me.
