On February 3rd I was looking for a car and looked on auto trader.com I found a car that met what I wanted and I called them. After several calls I asked them to get me price and to give me any defects on the car and asked them to email me a list of items that needed to be fixed. I also asked them to tell me how much tire tread was on the tires. I received the list from them with everything checked off and I was told all 4 tires have more than 75% tread life left on them.

The check list had everything working perfectly and I asked them (because they are a reputable company Lithia motors) to have their mechanics look it over and they said not only had they have their mechanics look it over but the sales person and his manager looked it over and it was the “best looking car of that year they have ever seen” and ”everything worked perfectly”.  I went to pick up the car the weather was bad.  They met me half way in Oregon at a truck stop on Feb 10th and it was dark and raining. I looked over the body and several of the options but the driver was rushing me to get out of the rain and since I had an email from Lithia that everything was in working condition I bought the car.

On my way home I noticed that the left driver side window would roll it self-down an inch every now and then and that made me worry. When I got home I did a more thorough look over and I found that the adjustable pedals did not work at all (it is checked that it is working on the document they sent me) and the driver side window would not roll down more than half the times I would try to use it. The biggest concern was the front tires had 0-3% tread life on them (I drove them over a mountain pass in the rain home) and the back tires have about 25% tread life (far from the 75% on all tires I was promised, please see the emails they sent me)

I have replaced the front tires for $358.28 on  February 12th I have attached the receipt and I took the car to Larry Miller Chrysler and they also confirmed that I need to replace the adjustable pedals and window motor totaling $600.65 plus I need new tires on the rear as well another $358.28. The total I have had to spend and replace is well over the amounts I am disputing with them ($150 and $850 together -$1000). Had they told me the truth and that the car was not actually in the condition they presented to me and I would have not bought the car at the price I offered. I would have had to adjust my offer to accommodate for the broken/worn items; had they told me the truth. They lied and cheated and made sure I picked up the car in the dark, I am very upset that Lithia motors would treat a customer like this, even thinking they can get away with this and I have documented proof of the lies (please see all the email correspondence).

They can’t lie to sell a car, then have me pick it up in the dark and rain. I have proof from the emails that they told me it all worked and check it all off and emailed me it worked and the tires were at 75% tread life.

For all practical purposes, what you've said is you bought the car WITHOUT checking it out.  They were "rushing you" (golly, I wonder why?), and you gave into that and fed perfectly and directly into their scam.  Then, you come here and blame them when ALL of this could have been avoided by YOU doing what it takes to protect YOUR assets!

YOU are the customer.  YOU are the person who is going to provide their profit.  YOU call the shots, not them!  If any car dealer will NOT let you properly check out the car, then you walk away!  Should this dealer or any other dealer have been honest?  Absolutely!  However, you and I both know the Sleazy American Car Business, in far too many cases, don't have the words "honesty" and "integrity" in their vocabulary.
