I used one of moving company to move my stuff from Tampa, FL to Maplewood, MN, its name is LowCountry van lines (I think their other business name is Low Country Van lines; BBB ranking is +B. Both companies have the same website: http://lowcountryvanlines.com).  When I was getting a quote, the company sounded reasonable and promised to pick up my stuff at 10 AM on March 19th.  Also, the company explained that my stuff weighs less than 3000 lbs/cf, I would get the flat fee $1,200.  But, what really happened was they came 4 hours late to the pick-up place (showed up at 2 PM) and they charged me extra $126.80 except for the additional packing materials ($85, I understand that I need to pay this money) because I had more stuff than quoted items.  In addition to this unexpected overcharge, I have been waiting for my stuff delivered to my new APT more than 2 weeks (from March 19th to today; April 6th), but I have no idea where the truck driver is.  I have contacted to two people, one is Frank who gave me a quote and initiated a contract and the other is Yulanda who is in the customer service center and is in charge in my case.  They both kept saying that they were calling the trucker to collect their location and would call me back.  NEVER HAPPEN!  One time (it was Thursday, March 31st), I called Yulanda to ask about how things go, she excused me that she couldnt open my file due to the computer system down.  Afternoon, I gave her a call again and her colleague excused me that her husband got heart attack again so that she left two hours early. But, she answered my phone on Friday morning, sounding like nothing happened.  She again promised to call me back, but she didnt.  And then they changed their phone number.  I used my cell and my office phone to get them on the phone, because they seemed to avoid my phone call.  I tracked my phone history when I made a phone call to them.  I really hope they dont scam me and would receive my stuff safely soon.

My worries were resolved this weekend.  My stuff was delivered well and there was extra charge of $75 for stairs which I understand it well.  Basically, this company makes me very worried for 3 weeks until my stuff was delivered becuase of the bad communication/update/interaction with me.  I had been calling them almost every day around one week after my stuff was picked up.  As you know, there are so many horrible stories about a fraud occured by the scam moving companies.  I can guarantee that LowCountry Van lines are not a scam or fraud.  They do their real business and you will receive your stuff.  Just need to be paitent.  If the company was good to communicate with me, letting me know that where the truk was.  I woudln't write this report on this ripoff website.

Let me review more detail here.  First, Frank whom I talked to first was well-engaged with me.  Actually, he made me to decide to choose this company because he spoke very reasonable.  Unfortunately, a couple of his promise didn't turn out being real, but I guess each individual has their role in the company and I assume that there wasn't enough communication between parts.  Only looking at their performance including wrapping stuff, loading and unloading stuff, I can tell that they did a good job.  The whole thing that I suffered thorugh the moving period (3 weeks) was the fact that I didn't know where my stuff was and when it was going to be delivered.  If the company improves the communication with customers better, lowcountry van lines can have more acuisition in the moving business.

Again, I say here that LowCountry Van Lines is not a scam, actually a real company that does a good job.  Please interact with customers better!!

Expecting the delivery this weekend

I almost gave up calling the company.  But, I tried one last call this morning (April 7, 2011) and received a call to know that a truck will be here within this weekend.  It took total 20 days to get a phone call back and know when the delivery will happen.  and it took total 23 days to get my stuff back if this delivery is completed on Sunday (April 10th, 2011).  It has been a long and very nervous period for me not to know where my stuff is and when it's going to be at my place, or delivery would really happen.  I agree with the fact that this company really has communication issue with a customer.  But, I regret that I wrote up too detail about workers.  I shouldn't have done that.  I apologize two workers, Frank and Yulanda.  Now, I am really hoppoing to receive my stuff back by this weekend.  I will write one last review after receiving every my stuff and completing my moving.  This final review will be objective and focus on the company performance.
