After having the traditional land line phone for over 30 years and by the grace of God, the bill always paid, did the phone company care that the underground line was rotting? No, they did not. Rice Crispy cereal saturated with acid sounded better than the antiquated lines supposedly providing a "connection." Even after begging for a solution because even though I am getting really old, I must go back to college so the children produced from my existence do not sink in our boat of life and the college requires a good internet connection...did the phone company care? Everyone out there is smart and knows the answer to that question. Living in a rural area, it was just recently that a very innovative and ingenious man (a man, one person) put a tower up out here and now all us hicks have caught up with the rest of the world. So, have patience. Magic Jack is not perfect and there are some bugs that the founder is working on. Even if nothing changes, it is far better than giving your money to a company that has so much money they probably use money to light their fires when they burn all the paperwork that would prove how uncaring they really are. Let us not be paralyzed with the past. Have patience. By the way, the day the Magic Jack was installed, the nightly news reported that soon, electric bills might go up thousands of dollars. Crafty little buggers, aren't they!

....but you aren't very specific as to just what the problem might be. I've had a Magic Jack for 'way over a year and it works very well. In fact, I just paid up for 4 or 5 years of future service. . My concern is the fact that Majic Jack will probably not be successful over the long term. $20.00 / year is really cheap for ersatz VOIP service. They initially claimed the pop-up "soft phone" advertising would be part of their income stream. I haven't seen any advertising other than Magic Jack. Hardly addressing a potentially lucrative market since they're "already there". . Sunrocket VOIP went belly-up charging a monthly fee greater than Magic Jack's annual charge. Oh well, I'll continue to use it while it exists. . A VERY secure, fast broadband connection is necessary for a Magic Jack to do its 'Magic'. One little glitch and you're cut off. That's true with ANY VOIP connection.
