Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
$20 plus $20 each year or $59 for 5 years..

I have to say, it worked great out of the box. Worked for months (about 3). Then, slowly I was noticing dropped calls. The dropped calls have turned into the inability to make an out bound call. Well, to be exact, I need to restart the unit each time I want to make a call. Then after 5 minutes or so, the call drops. I upgraded my 3mg Broadband service to 20 to allow myself the ability to multi task on line with ease. I can receive calls, just can't really make an outgoing call.

For anyone who is having success, I wish you the best. My coworker has been using it successfully with no issues for over a year. That is the reason I went for the 5 year service. I see many of you have posted that the service works great for you. If it works, then kindly let me know what I am doing wrong.

Working with the Chat Line, I was told to restart the Magic Jack in everyway possible. I restarted, unplugged, removed from pc task list, cleared from registry and rebooted pc. I was promted to move unit to a different USB port. Did that. Did that on 2 pc's hitting every USB port found. I was told that the issue was my USB's on both pc's. Told to buy an ac powered (2.0) USB hub. Did that (not that I need more ports. Solely for the Magic Jack). I was instructed to manually add the ports to my Internet Security and change my setting to its lowest security settings. Yup, did that. Turned off my firewall as instructed (one pc has Norton and the other unprotected). They said they were re-setting my account. Saw no change. Told to reset my DNS...and then the Chat was disconnected on their end.

Since then, I can still establish a Chat session, but as soon as I provide my phone #, they either end the Chat or they simply do not continue the chat. No case # was ever provided for any of the 7 Chat Sessions.

Ending customer service is a breach of contract in my eyes. Not providing what I bought is also a breach of contract.

If anyone is looking to file a class action lawsuit, I am in. And it looks like they are also Talk4Free. I would not be surprised if MagicJack goes bankrupt and does the same thing with Talk4Free.. Just another scam until action is taken.

First let me say that as the Magic Jack sells in several different stores or even if you can only order it on line, I would buy a second MJ if my first MJ was failing and MJ did not want to exchange it. I would make sure to pay using a credit card as well as by Pay Pal so that I would have to different companies fighting for me to get my money back by doing a charge back if MJ fails to refund my money when I sent back the defected MJ with in the 30 day trial period. This is how I have handled other products where the company failed to stand behind their product. But this is why I originally wrote here today. I have purchased a Magic Jack over 8 months ago and it has served its purpose. I have had only one consistent problem. This problem is that every two to three weeks, my MJ loses its connection which I have no phone service when I turn my computer on in the morning to start my day. I have to go through a process their tech support walked me through which can take 10 minutes to 30 minutes to finally get the MJ back up and running. It does take 30 minutes to an hour and a half to get in contact with their tech support division and this is including you getting the MJ back up and running. But I suggest that the first time that you have to contact their tech support for this problem that you copy and save their whole explanation of how to get the MJ back up and running. Since the only way you can contact their tech support is through the net where you type your conversation instead of talking to someone, you will have the whole conversation typed out after you are done fixing the MJ. This is when you should copy the whole conversation and paste it in a new file and then save it on your computer so that you can actually go through the whole procedure to get your MJ back up and running by yourself the next time your MJ fails to connect. It is the same procedure to get it back up and running every time. I must admit that this is a little inconvenient but once again for the cost, I would rather go through this process with MJ instead of paying $25 plus each month just to have a phone in my house. The connection sometimes is a little ruff also but that is 1 out of every 15 calls. I have read several of these complaints here on Ripoff and they are valid complaints but I felt that it was important to at least explain that the MJ does work in most cases and even though it has s few corks, it is still a great bargain for the cost of the item. Depending on the cell phone service plans in your area, it might be best to pay for a cell phone instead of having a land line, Vonage, Skype, and even Magic Jack. But if you need a phone service other than a cell, I still feel that Magic Jack is a great deal due to the cost and regardless of all these other complaints. People here were also complaining that when you turn off your computer that there is no phone service with MJ and this is true. If you are like me and the other 90% of people that I know where they also have a cell phone as well as a MJ, land line, Vonage, or Skype you can forward the MJ calls right before you turn off your computer into your cell phone or other phone service. It is only a few clicks on MJ's website and you can instantly forward your MJ calls to your cell and in the morning when you turn your computer back on you can switch off the forwarding function so that your MJ phone will ring with just a few more clicks on the MJ website. We have bought one MJ for our house 8 months ago and we are buying another one today because we have a business located in another area code which is considered long distance. When ever we have our biz. phone lines forwarded into our cell phones because we are out of the office, we have been billed $20 to $40 dollars depending on the amount of calls every month by the phone company because our biz. calls are being forwarded into a long distance cell phone number. Due to the different area codes between our Biz. lines and our cell phones and when we get this new MJ, we are going to assign the MJ the same area code as our business lines so we can forward our biz. calls to the MJ when we are out of the office and then we will set the MJ up to forward all the calls into our cell phones which will now be a free call. NO MORE LONG DISTANCE CHARGES WITH MJ!! Buying a MJ and using it the way I just described, we are going to save our business at least $250 to $480 a year. The computer will never have to be on after the initial set up in order to set the MJ up to forward all the calls it receives into our cell phones. If you clearly think on how to successfully use the MJ to your advantage, it can save you or your biz. hundreds of dollars each year and you can avoid many of the problems listed here on this Rip Off web site. I just felt that it was very important for me to log on and express my positive usage of the MJ as well as some of the problems the MJ can cause but over all for the cost of the product, it is a steal/bargain!! a satisfied customer
