Complaint Review: Manchester Capital Ventures - Internet

 This supposed “Business Funding Symposium” from Manchester Capital Ventures was a classic bait and switch. Here is an excerpt from their initial email: “BFS 2016 is likely your best opportunity for securing capital (or selling your business), because we bring a host of professional and family investors, plus there will be multiple funding options to suit your needs, such as: • Venture capital • Angel funding & seed money for early stage start-ups or ideas • Immediate business loans (that don’t require you having to give up equity) • Even flexible hybrid combinations, such as debt that converts to equity later (convertible notes), etc. How It Works: • Pitch your business or idea. (Like Shark Tank®, but without all the cameras or drama.) You’ll meet with investors and lenders in one (or more) of the pitch tanks: • When you pitch, be sure to indicate if speed of funding is important: • Manchester and some investors have their own funds and are the decision makers, allowing them to move quickly. • Some investors attending are working with managed money, and under pressure to deploy their capital ASAP. • Some lenders attending BFS 2016 can fund in 4 days. ------------

Under the guise of funding and angel investors as well as venture capitalists attending, this fraudulent company instead used predatory tactics to attempt to instead sell their own goods and services. I paid the charge of $150 for the opportunity to pitch my business: Informalchildsupport.com, to a panel of Venture capitalists or Angel investors. Instead, this sham of a company exploited my good faith and in turn set me up with a predatory company to try and get me to pay a $25,000 “retainer” for sales and marketing services. At no time was I able to pitch my idea to an actual investor, but instead was tricked into pitching my business to a predatory company that charges $25,000 to supposedly market your company to try and FIND a real investor.

Now what kind of reputable Venture Capitalist firm rents out a UPS mailbox to masquerade as a high end financial mover and shaker?
