We contacted Maquet's for what we thought was going to be a plumbing problem. Worker came in, walked into the basement bathroom, looked around the toilet, walked into the laundry room and looked behind the wash machine, then stated, 'You don't have a plumbing problem, you have a drain problem.' He then took it upon himself to call Rooter Matic, who then opened the drain. Maquet is now claiming to have 'moved things' and 'took plumbing apart' in order for Rooter Matic to do their job because of State Code. There was nothing moved, floor drains are open and in plain sight and there was no plumbing taken apart. We have since had A/B Hunter and Burling and Sons do the same job within two weeks and neither of them required a plumber to remove anything before cleaning our drains.

They also sent us a bill for $239.50, non-itemized, stating that they have already paid RooterMatic and now we owe them for that, along with all of their bogus plumbing work that they did not do. I told them I wasn't paying them a cent. They then threatened to put a lien on my property if it's not paid.

My neighbor had the same issue. He called Tucker Plumbing, who then called Rooter Matic, but he was only billed a little over $80 and nothing from Tucker, because Tucker did not have to do any plumbing before the drain was cleaned.

Stay away from Maquet Plumbing!

The work that was completed for you was to cut in a cleanout access point into the drain line After investigating the issue it was discovered there was no full sized access to rod the plugged drain line properly. As per state of illinois plumbing code it must be a Licensed plumber/plumbing contractor that alters or installs any part of a plumbing system. Your facts of this service call are misguided and deceptive. I’m sure if A/B Hunter came there prior to having the cleanout point installed they would’ve instructed you to have a plumbing company install a cleanout as well. This is proper common practice in this industry. I’m sorry you felt wrongfully charged but the facts are the work was completed in a professional and timely manner and was absolutely required to clean the drain lines properly.
