Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

This company is absolutely the worst place to start a career with. Please as a salesmen, that has had several years of sales experience and then made myself go through the whole "training process" to make sure I was right.....DO NOT SIGN ANYTHING AFTER THE OFFER SHEET!!!!!!

This company, Marcus Evans, or whatever they call themselves is really consisted of constant turnover of recent college graduates mixed in with some "assitant managers" who are really glorified good telemarketing salesmen. The "training process" or in Lamens terms 3 day brain washing phase is really just the "Regional Director" or "Sales Director" spewing bull #2 about a sales process that is really just a professional telemarketing ploy. They mix in "producers" and "assistant managers" which both do not make sense because a true producer does not come up with an idea on how to make a new summit plan or conference plan or etc.... they actually freaking produce and manage something like a movie or a play or etc.... And really, what is an "assistant manager?" All they really are "sales delegates" (please realize they never call you account executives or even junior a.e., because you really are not one)
that are truly glorified because they stuck with the company, now make horrible money and basically banter on about drunken dazes or some stupid s**t because they are pathetic and have no true careers.

They will tell you that the sales process, if followed, will lead you to success. Now that is bull shnoswer because if all of their testimonials which are complete crap is true? Then why are they always trying to hire new people, if they only need 30 people on their conference or which ever sector of their company they hire you at to work? Lamen terms= sales process in 3 days + you good salesman/woman+ find DM's+ sales pitch= many $$$$$$$

If so, why the high turnover rate? Are you really telling me that there are that many people who suck at sales, or is it really that even when you exceed your minimum of $12,000 in sales/month you still are only pulling in $39,000/ year. Now recent college grads that is when you exceed that minimum, if you do not and most do not you are closely looking at $31,000 and that is without taxes taken out. If you can average just under $2,600/month before taxes you are making around $16/hr.... minus traveling costs, unless you walk, you are really talking about less than $30,000 before taxes..... In all, it is not worth it!!!!!!

Really, from all the experience I had on the sales training, it is just a telemarketing job for top executives. That is all I learned from the sales training. The sales director might be very articulate and know what she is talking about but that is because she has worked with this company for years upon years. She knows what to say to you just like she knew what to say talking to "Goldman Sachs" VP's in her days of "sitting where you sat" crap talk. Just remember, those "assistant managers" make money of of you..... this is one very top heavy organized pyramid scheme. Look at the promotion structure, they hire within because they already have you regimented to their company standards.... the only problem with that is their company standards are unethical and just wrong!!!!

Please beware!!!!!

As an executive who has worked with Marcus Evans before (not for them, I don't know how they treat their employees), we were very apprehensive about working with them because of some of the comments on this board and others. However, we did speak with some of our peers who have actually been to Marcus Evans Summits and ultimately decided to give them a shot.

I must admit we were pleasantly surprised by the professionalism of the staff and level of attendees their program attracted. We went into this program with many reservations, but left feeling comfortable. As of now (2 months since we attended) we have closed some business and have established relationships with companies we would have never had the opportunity to meet on our own.

Everything in our dealings with ME has not been perfect. When they were originally trying to get us to there Summits at one point there were 3 different sales people calling us which was less than ideal. They are aggressive sales people which did turn us off initially. Overall we have been satisfied with them and are using them again for next year.  Short comings and all, at the end of the day they did deliver what was promised to us.

With all of the negativity, I wanted share the prospective of someone who has actually worked with them. A lot of people (like the original poster) like to hide behind anonymity which I understand, but if you want to speak with some one who has been a client of this company before I would be happy to have a phone conversation with you. Send me your email and I will respond with my phone number.

Best,

R. Martinez

That person was a former employee from the New York office, I interviewed at the Chicago office.   He was very unprofesisonal, but that was made by a Manager. It is a template and it is copied and pasted on from a computer.

So because someone disagrees with your report they must work for the company?  They must be on drugs?  Using that as a comeback is a sign of ignorance or just plain stupidty.

Everything in your report was just negated with the tantrum you just threw.

As recent university graduate, as many students in their last year, I was actively seeking for a job to jump start my career. My passion has always been sales, and that's what I was good at. During a university career fair, I was lucky to have met the Director of the  Summits division at Marcus Evans. He was extremely pleasant and helpful, indicating what he was looking for and I jumped right back at him saying I would be the perfect fit for the job. Shortly after, as any smart job seeker would do, I followed up on our conversation, and contacted him asking for an interview.

The interview process  went great and I was really confident I did a great job. I met with a few managers, and each one of them put me at complete ease. I was explained the requirements of the job, was asked a few questions about my personality, my attitude and why I thought I would be great for the position. The best part of the interview was the stimulating financial package that was being offered. The key word that stood out to me was the ability to earn an unlimited and uncapped earning potential. I thought this was nearly too good to be true; however being intelligent enough and knowing the nature of sales positions I understood quickly that this was entirely accurate and the more work you put into the job the more money you will make based upon achievements and performance. Knowing my potential, I was confident I had the right attitude for the job in order to be successful.

Overall the interview went great, I was then contacted shortly after inviting me to come for a second interview in which we discussed the possibility in taking the position. I was eager and excited to embark on such a journey and have such a great support team coaching me throughout the entire way. They stressed the fact they they wanted leaders, and future managers, putting me at comfort thinking that I would quickly rise to management level. After the interview process I was hired and seemed to have made a great impression.

During my first day of training I didn't know what to expect. I got the chance to meet with some of the top performance in North America providing with one of the best trainings I have ever attended. We were trained on every aspect of the job and provided with all the tools in order to be successful in this job. We were told on several accounts, your success, is our success.

Currently, after nearly a year with the company, I have seen a lot of growth, potential and advancements in my career with Marcus Evans. I had the opportunity to attend one of the most prestigious summits in North America in Florida amongst the top Presidents of Fortune 500 companies including, Disney, L'Oreal, American Express, amongst others. This was an amazing opportunity as a recent university graduate, and I was very grateful to have taken part in this. I began my career in sales, and quickly experienced success, allowing me to be financially comfortable. This was a motivator on it's own pushing me to go further and make more money!

The financial compensation is generous and built in a way that allows you to earn great money early in the job. As my responsibilities in the company grew, so did my financial package. In addition, being in a sales environment, we have great incentives with exciting trips for example, to Miami or Las Vegas, cash bonus, and prize rewards. I got the chance to have a weekend off and have fun with my group in South Beach Miami this past weekend after taking part in a great incentive. This was a great time to bond with our staff, and relax by the beach.

My progress and achievements quickly shined throughout the company and my performance and success was rewarded by a greater financial package as well as promotion opportunities. I now have several people under my jurisdiction acting as a Director of Development for North America working on recruiting the right people in order to find success the same way I did. I work closely with the top directors in North America and the CEO of Marcus Evans and have the ability to strategize and implement new ideas bringing the company new success.  I truly love every aspect of this job and am thankful that I was welcomed with opened arms at the very beginning of the recruitment process.
