MarisBrooks Roofing Conestoga Construction Con man shady contractor gives honest contractors a bad name Birchrunville, Pennsylvania
I subcontracted a siding job from Steve Reichert of MarisBrooks Roofing. The agreed price was $7500 with a 50% payment when 50% of the work was done. When 50% of the work was done he gave me a check for $2000 instead of $3750 because he didn't have enough cash. He then went on a 3 week vacation in Wyoming which meant when materials ran out I had to purchase them myself with the promise of being reimbursed when he got back. Needless to say he couldn't afford it when he got back, but said the homeowner owed enough money on the job that I would get it all when the job was completed. I completed the job on1/23/10 and witnessed the homeowner give Steve a check. He said he would mail a check to me on 1/25/10. I called 1/28/10 to make sure he sent the check and thats when the lies started. First he said the check didn't clear, then he said the check bounced, then he just stopped answering the phone when I called. When he stopped answering I sent an e-mail to the company website and got threatened by his wife that if I contacted Steve , the homeowner, or the company again she would press charges against me. As of 3/1/10 she still won't pay and Steve still won't answer the phone so now I have to sue them.
During the job I had to hide damage because Steve wouldn't pay to fix it. Steve also shingled their roof and made a mess of it. Skylight were flashed wrong and overhangs were too short. I had to listen to Steve bullshit the homeowners into thinking it was done right. He's the kind of contractor that gives the good ones a bad name.

As of 3/14/10 I still haven't received my payment. When I asked for a 1099 form, Steve's wife Debbie threatened me with jail time for harassment. She has also threatened to sue me for lost jobs due to this posting, but it their business practices that have caused the problem. I sent a complaint to the BBB to get some assistance with this matter. Every e-mail I send to the company's website gets a response of lawsuits and jail time. Neither one of them will talk on the phone. I can just imagine the advertising the homeowner is doing for these people.
