DO NOT shop at Mart Eleven (Mart 11) in the Claridge House Building.  I have had numerous issues (I am among a large group of people who have had similar issues.  This place is such a rip off I will break it down in three categories, general scam, stories from neighbors and what happened to me today.

General:  None of the prices are marked so this individually owned convenience store will charge you whatever they feel like charging you at the register.  The only thing that is clearly marked is cigarettes.  I have come in to purchase a ten pack bag of trash bags which were $5.69 to come back later that day and they mysteriously jumped to $7.69 with no sign nor sale sticker.  Furthermore, I have purchase some food items where when I got them home they were rotten and had been expired for months.  When I attempted to return them, I was denied.  Mind you these incidents happened 2 years ago and I stopped shopping with them, however, when my car broke down I was forced to come back later.

Neighbors complaint:  Numerous complaints of the store owners taking your money and not giving you the proper change.  When you tell them of their mistake they will argue you down, call you a liar and not return your money.  This has happened to ALL of the neighbors on my floor (yes I took a survey, I am making it my duty to inform people of these crooks) an elderly couple on the first floor who are living on their social security, and even the managers of the Claridge House!

Another complaint I heard was with elderly people the owners of the store will automatically charge them double.  One of my neighbors said it has gotten so bad she sends her daughter or her daughters kids to the store if she needs something.  This woman has to shop here as she is on a fixed income and has no car!

What happened to me today:
They stole my money.  I paid for my purchase with a $20 bill.  The total was $8.17.  When the woman handed me my change I did not look at it as I was trying to pick up something she dropped.  Now mind you she folded the bill so I assumed the $11.83 was in my hand.  i turned and walked out the door.  I got 6 paces out of the door when I realized she had only given me a dollar.  I come back in the shop tell her of her mistake and she argued me down.  Now I have never had any problems with her, told her to balance her drawer, told her to look at her camera and she refused.  So I called the police.  The officer was nice enough, however, didn't do a darn thing.  He suggested when she balanced her drawer if she was $10 over to give me a call.  Ofcourse, no call and probably by the end of the night she was hundreds of dollars over from scamming all of the rest of the poor people at the Claridge House!!

Run from this place, save yourself the trouble, you will get better service and better prices at (((competitor's name redacted))).

sorry, allowing you to give a competitors name would instigate others to just file against their competition, to only come back later to suggest their company, ..plus, if you post a competitors name more than likely they will show up on search engines as a Rip-off! - - your comments on this policy are welcome. CLICK here to see why Rip-off Report, as a matter of policy, deleted either a phone number, link or e-mail address from this Report. In this case we removed an alleged competitors name
