Here's basically a copy of the compaint that I just filed with the BBB which maps out why Match.com is a complete and absolute scam (personal information omitted):

Complaint Description:

I expect a full refund for the subscription that I purchased with Match.com. This online dating site is inundated with fraud and misrepresentation. This Match.com online dating site has TV commercials that represent the service as being reputable. In fact the TV commercials lure people in, and after they get your money the site shows itself to be anything but reputable which as far as I'm concerned is consumer fraud. I subscribed with the site on Thursday 8/15/13 on a 3 month membership at a price of $47.98. I just wanted to give it a try. One of the ladies on the site that I communicated with via email was represented on the site as being 33 years old from Tennessee, and as it turns out is a 29 year old named Olga from Russia, like a mail-order bride type of deal. Then another one that I texted/emailed with is supposedly from California but has a Michigan area code and supposedly was on a business trip in Nigeria at the time. We ended up exchanging mobile numbers for the purpose of texting, and I got flooded with about 100 texts to the point of absurdity, often times the same texts being sent repeatedly, as if I was talking to some kind of an automated computer program. Then the third main lady that I talked to in my brief 4 day subscription (officially cancelled Monday 4/19/13) was supposedly from Asheville, North Carolina (same state I live in), but had a Pennsylvania area code and supposedly was on a business trip in Cairo at the time, which is highly suspect because Egypt is on the brink of civil war at the moment. Hopefully you are seeing a pattern of misrepresentation and complete fraud here. The thing is, you can sign up as a member and see the profiles before you shell out money and subscribe which really lures you into it, but once you actually subscribe and they get your money, you realize that the site is riddled with fake profiles that mysteriously become inaccessible after some type of contact is established with the ladies. This is a complete scam, pure and simple, and I have texts and emails to back my assertion up. I'm a computer guy in the IT industry, and I can sniff a computer scam out pretty quickly, so I canceled my subscription as quickly as possible. Just look at all the BBB complaints and complaints on all the other scam/complaint sites. Joining was a huge mistake and I never should have done it, but I was trying to be optimistic. That will never happen again.

Your Desired Resolution:

All I want is a refund in the amount of my subscription fee, being $47.98. My profile name on the site was ThatCatDude (I'm an animal rights activist who has 2 cats), and here's a copy of the message that I received from Match.com after cancelling the subscription: ------------------------------------- Your subscription has been cancelled. Your confirmation number is ThatCatDude2013819172655137. You do not have to do anything further to complete your subscription cancellation. The last day of your subscription will be 11/16/2013. Use your last 88 days to contact any new members on Match.com. You never know when you're going to find the one! If you wish to hide your profile and deactivate your account, please click here. You will receive an email confirming your cancellation and containing pertinent information soon. --------------------------------------- I did receive that email which offered to reactivate my account at anytime. No way!!! I just want a refund. Also, how can the last day of my subscription be 11/16/13 if the subscription is already cancelled?? Highly suspect. This site is also notorious for charging people subscription renewal fees on their credit cards without their consent, as in fraudulently. What a sham!!!
