Our 19 year old contracting firm was referred to Mr. Everett as a resource for help by a respected contemporary in the area who had wisely decided to walk away from the balance of a luxury market residential construction project being built by Matt Everett Custom Homes. We were contacted BY Mr. Everett and were asked if we would / could complete something outside of his ability or expertise that was "all I have left to complete in order to finish this house and get paid."
We did the research, provided the consultation, made half a dozen site visits where we supplied goods and performed services to satisfy the remaining needs and complete the remaining work at hand, and (to date) have not received the balance that has been due to us for 6 months now.
The last payment from Mr. Everett in September of '17 stated "1/2 balance" on the comment line of his check, thereby admitting to his responsibility to pay the same amount again in the future in order to satisfy his debt, but he refuses to do so after several polite, yet firm demands for payment.
At this point, we are simply writing this debt off and moving forward. If he chooses to do the right thing and pay his balance, so be it - but we would HIGHLY recommend against working for, or hiring this individual or his company - especially based on other reports found on this very site, a local chamber of commerce site, and a judment in Collin County from a victimized homeowner.
IF we had done our research before choosing to get involved, it would have saved us from wasting time and money in both the services and materials rendered, and the headaches of trying in vain to secure the balance due.

To cut to the chase, an individual who is actively building custom homes that are priced in the MILLIONS has the fluidity to pay a completely legitimate debt that is less than $1K. This suggests that he CAN pay the bill, but is choosing not to, even after admitting in writing that the debt is valid.
IF such an individual WERE to pay his balance within 14 days of this report (1/10/18-1/24/18), we will rescind this damaging, but truthful report. If not - it will be here forever, and others like it WILL follow.
