Mauricio Padilla Attorney Mauricio Padilla quit and refused to refund most of $5,000 retainer Miami Florida
I hired attorney Maurico Padilla and paid him $5,000 flat fee to handle a custody issue. Just a couple months after he was unresponsive, didn't return my phone calls or texts and failed to discuss with me any preparation for an upcoming deposition. When I emailed him and told him I would report him to the Florida Bar if he didnt respond to me... he quit!
At that point he had only filed some initial paperwork for my case, which was hardly worth $5,000 worth of work. Yet he was refusing to refund my money. After I took the case to the Florida Bar he refunded just $1,000 of my money which was grossly insufficient and insulting. Mr. Padilla did very little work and never fulfilled his committment to resolve my custody matter. He never even stepped foot in court before resigning! The deposition that he should have prepared for never took place. (Thank goodness because he didn't prepare for it by discussing the matter with me).
Beyond this, he told the court that his resignation was a mutual agreement, which was a lie. I have since spoken to other attorneys who have told me that they have heard similar problems regarding Mr. Padilla. Five thousand dollars is a lot of money to me as a single mother. I turned to him for help with a legal isssue and instead found myself being victimized by Mauricio Padilla. Stay away from this lawyer!
