Max World News is nothing more than an infomercial production company trying to disguise itself as a news service. Typical fee: $10,000 or more -- which you find out about 20 minutes into the conversation with them on the phone.

When they find your information on the web or in the newspapers, they call you and make you think that they are producing a segment on you to be distributed to hundreds of TV and radio stations. It sounds SO legitimate. But beware, it is NOT a news company.

They told me that my local TV station has aired their segments. I called the station and here's what they told me: "We never use services like that." So you see, Max World News will tell you any number of lies to entice you.

I used to work in TV news and I know that there is NEVER a fee involved in making a news story -- NEVER EVER. And most TV stations do not want to use footage from other places -- they often have their own video libraries and very capable production staff. So don't let Max World News give you the line about "smaller affiliates who can't afford production." That is pure bull and an outright lie.

Here are some other interesting facts about the company. They have photographs on their website showing their staff with reputable newspeople like Charles Osgood. Well, look carefully at the photo -- that photo was taken at a media trade show. Anybody there could have had their picture taken with Mr. Osgood. In fact, I'm sure Mr. Osgood would not be happy to know that his photo and his name are associated with these scam artists.

Look carefully at their website and you will see that is actually very poorly done and amateurish.

Do not be lured in by Max World News unless you feel like draining your bank account of $10,000 and getting nothing out of it. Sure, you may end up with a nifty looking "news segment," but who is going to want it? In fact, using services like this actually can DAMAGE your company's reputation, because it makes you look desperate for coverage.

If you want real news coverage, hire a reputable PR person.

False Inaccurate Erroneous Dishonest Claim

Nicole, I will not waste a reader's time by touting the virtues of MAX World News, rather rebut your specific libelous, unsubstantiated claims obviously made in effort to defame the reputation of MAX World News. Furthermore, while I don't know who you are, I encourage you to call me personally to resolve your issue. This website exists only for those who feel they have exhausted their efforts. 1. MAX World News does not produce infomercials. Our content/video is used ONLY by affiliates of ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC and cable news channels during their regular news programming. We do not buy paid-programming airtime from any network. 2. The aforementioned news outlets in ALL 210 markets across the country use, or have used our content including the station you called in your local market. When you called, you either spoke to the wrong person at the station or they disregarded you because of the overwhelming number of PR solicitations they receive daily. This is one reason MAX World News exists. 3. MAX World News's website is designed by WorldNow, the leading provider of websites to news organization including COX, NY Times, Time Warner, Lin, Meredith and Raycom. I hope you recognize all these names because if you don't, you sincerely need to do some homework. They represent approximately twenty-five percent of ALL local television station's news websites. http://www.worldnow.com 4. Yes, look closely at the pictures on our website of staff with reputable news people. You'll realize the one with Renay San Miguel of CNN was taken at an awards ceremony where MAX World News was one of only five recipients to be honored with an Award of Excellence in Broadcast Journalism along with CNN, CBS Television, NBC/Telemundo and ESPN. (((link redacted))) The photo with Walter Cronkite was at a private lunch with him and MAX World News only. Some photos are from NEWS-PROFESSIONALS-ONLY industry events, not media events as you referred to them. 5. Contrary to your alleged knowledge of the news industry, nearly every station subscribes to a feed service to access content they otherwise can't. In fact, one of the largest services is one from CNN called CNN Newsource. Consumer Reports, Good Housekeeping and the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), amongst others all have feeds that stations subscribe to. The stations rely on this content. Watch CNN Headline News for one hour and count how many times you see a video courtesy such as Courtesy: MAX World News. The reason for this courtesy is because the video is from a third party. 6. We also encourage companies to hire a reputable PR firm as they are all familiar with and encourage our industry practice. 7. You did not pay us $10,000 or more. I am positive you paid less. 8. In this age of media rich content, such as video on the web, I'm certain that nearly every company that has a story to tell would like to a nifty video to do so. 9. Your statement about working with companies like this can DAMAGE your company's reputation because. it makes you look desperate for news coverage. is absurd. More over, it's damaging to you because it clearly exemplifies you don't have the foggiest notion about PR let alone the news industry. Television and internet news are complex mediums. What makes a story newsworthy is subjective and consequently results vary. Expectations were set forth accordingly.
