Complaint Review: May Trucking Company - Layton Utah

on September 1 2007 I was looking for a trucking company that hired recent graduates since I have just graduated not too long ago. I had several companies turn me down because they (other companies I applied to) all said that I had waited too long to start my driving career and needed to take a refresher course. I informed these companies that have been working for local temp agencies in the area so I didn't seem to think that I needed any refresher training. Anyway I finally got a hold of May Trucking company which was a good company as far as I could tell,training was not very long and the training pay was not bad either about $500 a week which is alot compared to other companies (werner US Express only pay $300 a week). Also the starting pay was .30 cpm which isn't too bad either. So I decided to give May a shot. I sent my app. in via email and a recruiter from Oklahoma had contacted me the next day via the telephone. After speaking to her briefly over the telephone she explained to me about the company and yadah yadah yadah and then she said she would call me the next day to give me my bus confirmation #. The next day she calls back and tells me my confirmation # and told me which terminal I would be going to. (Phoenix AZ)

I show up at the Greyhound terminal where I live and went to the counter to get my ticket. When I told the ticket agent my confirmation # I was told that the confirmation # I had was non existent!!! I said What do mean it is non-existent?? I am supposed to be on bus such and such heading to Phoenix.The ticket agent then says well I'm sorry that confirmation number does not exist!! By this point I am PISSED OFF!!!!! this was a sunday and I was supposed to be in Phoenix the next day monday to go to orientation. The next day my reqruiter leaves me a message saying that she got word I was not at orientation. I immediately called her back and explained what happened.She told me that this was not supposed to happen and that she was really upset.She then tells me that the next orientation was next Monday.I told her that that is too long of a wait and I wanted to hurry up and get started.I asked if I could go to another terminal and she said yes go too Layton Utah.She then asked if I wanted a bus ticket and I told her NO because that screwed me up already.I informed her I was going to driver my personal vehicle and she said that would be great and I would get reimbursed once I got to Layton.The next day I am FINALLY in Layton Utah.Got there about 12 midnight and had to be down in the lobby at 8:15am.I get up and go to the lobby at about 8 the next morning and was approached by a rep for May.I go to the terminal with a group and we start the paperwork process JESUS CHRIST WHAT A NIGHTMARE I HAD SIGNED LESS PAPERS IN THE MILITARY AND EVEN WHEN I BOUGHT MY HOUSE!!!! anyway I have this guy come up to me and asked me if I was ready for my road test. I said yes not really sure of what the hell he was talking about but still I was ready.We get in the truck and he tells me to go out of the yard and on the road so I did and everything was fine.We get back to the yard and there is alot of barrels lined up in a squire and he tells me "I don't care how you back in just back in" so I did I then noticed that I wasn't back quite far enough and so I asked him if I was too far and he says "I dunno" I then backed in to the area and I noticed that I was a little over the right side but still backed the trailer in.He then tells me to wait for him in his office.I went to the office as told and he comes in and slams the door and said "I am failing you" asked him why and he tells me that he does not need to give me a reason to fail me.I said BULLSH*T and I went to the supervisor.I told the sup about everything that happened and the sup said "well he thought it was the right thing to do". The right thing to do?WTF?!?!? so I said fine just give me my reimbursement for the gas I had wasted to come here.The sup tells me that they don't do that and to contact my recruiter.AGAIN WTF?!?!? as I was leaving Layton I contacted my recruiter and explained to her what happened.She informed me that the road tester told her that I jumped a curb and couldn't back the trailer in the spot he wanted me to.AGAIN AGAIN WTF?!?!? I told her that was bs.I also wanted to know when I was going to get reimbursed for gas that I wasted on this trip.She tells me that THEY were supposed to reimburse you.I told her they didn't and she says well there is nothing I can do at this point.I told her Whatever.I am going with another company now that seems OK.Whatever you do stay the hell away from May Trucking company RIP OFF BIG TIME!!!!
