This company is a nightmare and gives Maytag Corp a bad name.

The story is to long to give in detail. They basically sent an extended warantee offer in the mail for a (then subsidiary of Maytag Corp.) Dynasty range. This is a commercial style (like Viking) high end unit (current price new is $6,000). After 6 years of paying the contract the oven burner failed - repair cost was ~$500.

Maytag Dependability Plus set up the repair - all was happy. When the local tech arrived, diagnosed, and phoned in for approval, the claim was rejected. Maytag Dependability Plus invoked a "buy out the contract" option. But, like others have noted, every contract has different wording. Ours required they pay the value of the appliance.

So - a few phone calls to the company that sold it to me (Dvorson's) established the USED value at $3,000. But Maytag Dependability Plus said they would pay $200 to "settle". Dvorson's owner (Josh) and my local service company (Best Service in Denver) got on it in a big way and forced Maytag to do the repair - thumbs up to both these companies!

My most bizzare experience was with one of the Maytag agents. She told me that Maytag Dependability Plus had nothing to do with Maytag Corporation but was actually Service Net Inc. I told her that their website is in Maytag colors and had a Maytag logo and she hung up on me.

Anyway - big kudos to Dvorson's and Best Service - big razzberry to Maytag Dependability Plus...
