World Points is MBNA's credit card rewards program. one point is earned for each dollar spent. Rewards can be redeemed for mechandise or travel.
On JULY 31, 2006 I redemed 50000 points for two airline tickets valued at $280.00 each. 25000 points will buy any airline ticket in the continental USA uo to $400.00. In addition to the points I was charged $100.00 by MBNA's travel agent, Carlson Wagonlit. I was told $90.00 was for fuel surcharge, $45.00 per ticket. There was also a service charge og $5.00 per ticket. The airline ticket could have been purchased direct, by me, from American airlines for $280.00 each with no fuel surcharge. In fact, MBNA, through Carlson, purchased the tickets for $280.00 each - less any discounts it receives - from American Airlines without a fuel surcharge.
MBNA and Carlson are profitting and using the rising prices for fossil fuels as justification without ever paying the surcharge. I have been ripped off. I was charged $90.00 in addition to the 50000 point for two tickets valued at $560.00 when 50000 points have a declared value of $800.00.
Please investigate. I, and others, are being cheated and MBNA and carlson are profiteering using fuel costs as justification.
I look forward to hearing from you.
