Paid $75.00 up front for GMAT Tutor rated at 9.6/10. Tutor was 45 minutes late. Tutor could not complete any GMAT math problems in less than 5 minutes.

In fact, he was unable to correctly complete 3 problems in 25 minutes. The actual test gives ~2 minutes per problem. How can you teach it if you can't do it? Tutor unable to explain the GMAT problems. Tutor gave incorrect information about the GMAT. E.g. "You are allowed to bring a calculator in the GMAT test with you." This is wrong.

Tutor was asked to leave 15 minutes prior to end of session. McElroy Tutoring will not reimburse the student. McElroy Tutoring falsely promotes their tutors and has an illegitimate scoring system.

Since our first rebuttal was posted, McElroy Tutoring has earned (and then continued to maintain) a rare "A+" rating from the Better Business Bureau.

In addition, two weeks after this complaint was made, we instituted a full money-back guarantee,
in order to ensure that this type of dispute would never reoccur.

Little did we know at the time of this complaint that one person's vindictive attempt to harm our reputation would end up as one of the top Google results for "McElroy Tutoring."  After providing honest, reliable and expert tutoring services to thousands of clients across the country for the last 7 years, we think it's a shame that one dishonest client with malicious intentions can so quickly tarnish our company's good name by anonymously slandering us on a website such as this.

As the founder and president of McElroy Tutoring, and a Harvard graduate with 11 years of experience as a private tutor,  I take great pride in our reputation as an honest, reliable business with a wide selection of professional, expert tutors.   And I can personally vouch for each of our tutors, because all tutors must undergo an intensive application and interview process, including a one-on-one interview with me, before being hired.  Thus, I would respectfully request that you consider the trustworthiness of this isolated complainer before drawing any premature conclusions about our company or our tutors.

For more information about us, please visit our website at McElroyTutoring.com or call our main office at 866-584-TUTOR.

Thank you.

A quick response: 1) Tutor was not 45 minutes late. The complainer never mentioned this until after his request for a refund was denied by PayPal's dispute resolution department. In other words, he made it up. Tutor has hundreds of satisfied students--as a result, we highly doubt the rest of the complainer's claims as well. 2) We do not offer, nor have we ever claimed to offer, a money-back guarantee (or as the complainer incorrectly calls it, "reimbursement"). So long as the lesson occurs, we charge you for that lesson, which is why we require 24 hours pre-payment. However, we never require our clients to pay for more than one lesson at a time (this gives them the opportunity to try different tutors). We are also happy to refund payment for any unused lesson hours. 3) We offered the client a refund through PayPal for the final 15 minutes of the lesson that he did not use. He refused. 4) Our tutor's qualifications and ratings are thoroughly explained on our website. 5) Prior to posting on this site, the complainer contacted us via phone and email to threaten a negative posting on this website unless I issued a full refund. Hence, this post is the result of blackmail and vindictiveness, not public interest. For more information, you can contact us by phone at 866-584-8886 or by email at [email protected].
