McLand Marketing Group, Associates of Card Services International Unsecured Visa and Mastercard 2500.00 limit ripoff fraud business Atlanta Georgia *UPDATE more rip-off BULL
On 01/24/02 I received a phone call from Marion Peeks, a representive of McLand Marketing Group. Mr. Peeks informed me that I had been approved to receive an unsecured Visa with a 2500.00 limit and a unsecured Mastercard with a 2500.00. Mr. Peeks informed me that he would be my representive for the next six months and if I had a problem and could not pay my monthly payment for that particular month, I was to call him and make arrangements. What was different about this guy was he allowed me to think about excepting the offer.
Mr. Peeks said that he would call me back the next day. I really did not feel any pressure at all. ( The guy was smooth). Sure enough the next day Mr. Peeks calls and I excepted the offer. I was told that a processing fee of 169.00 would be debited from my savings account. The debits were split into two payments. I was told that within 14 to 30 business days after the last payment had been debited I would receive my Visa and Mastercard.
I was given a customer service number (1-678-495-2311) this number is not even toll free. I was giving a reference number and a contract number to use when calling for assistance. After all of this helpful information was given to me, I was told that a verifier would call and verify all of the information that I had given and all of the information that Mr. Peeks had given me. 10 minutes later a woman name Wanda Smith called and introduced herself as the verifier for Card Services International. The information was verified and I began to anxiously wait for my credit cards. Needless to say, I'm still waiting. I called the customer service number and got the classic "All of our representives are busy assisting other customers" speech. I was told to leave a message and a representive would return my call within 24 business hours.
I found out that their concept of 24 business hours is based on snail time. In our time I received a call back from customer service 188 business hours later. I knew that I had been had when the following conversation took place. I told the customer service rep that that I had been waiting on my "package" and that 14 to 30 business days had come and gone. The young lady said "Yes, and what do you want me to do about it"? I asked to speak to the famous Marion Peeks or Wanda Smith.
I was told that no such persons worked there. I gave this person the contract number and she informed me that someone from the shipping department would be contacting me later in the day. 77 hours later a message was left on my voice mail stating that the "package" was scheduled for shipping and to follow the instructions once I received the "package". No shipping date was given. I was told that when the "package" came I would need to fill out another form and submit it, in order to get the credit cards. I will write this off as a lesson learned. As of 04/02/02 I'm still waiting on the "package". I'm 43 years old and I have never been taken in on any scheme before. I guess you are never too old to get your head bumped. If I get this famous package I will definitely update this information.

In my first letter, I said that I would update this report if the famous package showed up.
Well, I got the famous package today. Inside the package was an application to apply for a unsecured credit card. Remember that when I was offered this credit card, I was already approved for an unsecured visa and an unsecured mastercard. Each card had a limit off 2500.00 . The application had a clause a the bottom that reads:

Card Services International, hearby referred to as CSI, acts only as a forwarding party to credit card issuers and assumes no responsibility for APPROVAL/DENIAL of application. This application was provided FREE OF CHARGE. Yes, free of charge to CSI. This application cost me 169.00 .
Then CSI had the nerve to ask me to sign up for a Standard Benefit Plan at 19.95 a month. I'm suppose to fill out the credit application and the Standard Benefit form. I guess they plan on taking 19.95 a month. If I'm stupid enough to send in these documents, then they should not only take the 19.95 a month, but they should take my entire account. These people can KISS MY !!!.
This was a very expensive lesson. I paid 169.00 for an application that I could have sent in for the price of a 34 cent stamp. My cousin put a VODOO CURSE on this company. I think it's funny, but I let her do it anyway. Why not. The law can't seem to stop these scam artists, maybe a VODOO CURSE can.
