The cost to clean MDU's mess up is $200 million. This is what it cost Washington Natural Gas to clean up Gas Works Park and Tacoma Tar pits (each) and they are similar to MDU's problem. MDU Resources has not allocated the clean up costs on it's or it's subsidiaries balance sheet as required by Washington Utility and Transportation Commission rules, and the SEC.
This is an indicator that MDU has no "real" intention of clean up the mess that is currently going into Puget Sound. Otherwise, they would have allocated costs. Washington Department of Natural Resources has documented the leaching into Puget Sound.
The pollution is impacting negatively surrounding property owners and bankrupting them and causing land to be auctioned off to by Kitsap County to unsuspecting new owners.
