I'm a tourist coming for holiday in Florida. We use the cab very often and finds that this mears transportation company taxi charges outrageous fees for their service. We took a taxi from magical kingdom to courtyard mariott beuna vista in Vineland avenue on 12/10/2915 3 pm (not on peak hours) and it cost us usd 26 ! But we took the uber on the previous day same time and it only cost 16 ! What a ripoff. These taxi drivers has no intergity and honesty and these gives a bad name to the taxi.Taxi number 397,driver 38905000 Another incident took mears taxi from mariott courtyard to hyatt regency cost 20 when we took uber the next day only cost 13! All these only happen in two days.. Hopefully my report will help the company to rectify the problem and make tourist stay more pleasant

Not a RipOff...

This is NOT a RipOff...

You do know what the difference between Uber and a regular taxi is..right?

A Taxi is regulated by the City/County, has to be licenced by the City pay fees for this license.  The agency also sets the prices a Taxi must charge and is not allowed to vary the amount.  If there are any complaints you can contact the agency.  They couldn't change these fares even if they wanted to without going to the city.

Uber on the other side is unregulated, they don't need to pay the city for a license.  They can set what ever rate they want and change prices accordingly.  However, because they are unregulated if you have any issues you can't go to the city to complain.

One other little "gottcha", unlike regular taxis that have a set fare schedule regardless of the time you use them.  Uber has what is known as "surge" pricing, where at times of higher demand or when the number of available uber drivers is limited they will attach a surcharge on top of the regular fare that could make the fare the same as or even more than the taxi charged you.
