AB Hadley & sons - ripoffs since 1931.

I took my wife's car in because she was having problems with the manual transmission, she's pretty good at driving a car with a clutch but the tranny was loosing it's pep. So after leaving it at the shop for the day, the owner (Boyd Hadley) tells me that the transmission is about to go and it will cost $3000 for a rebuilt transmission. I told him that we need to wait on the repair and that I'll pick it up in 2 hours.

I get there in one hour only to see one of the mechanics driving it from the rear of the shop to the pickup area (40 yards) but since the road is covered with snow the mechanic decides to jam through first second and third gear, spinning the tires on the snow just trying to blow up the transmission. I verbally confront him about it and voice my sentiments to the owner who could care less.

Furtunately we found an excellent auto shop in the area called: (competitor's name deleted - see below) I am only promoting them because we have been using them for 5 years and have nothing but positive things to say about Bob and his crew.

sorry, allowing you to give a competitors name would instigate others to just file against their competition, to only come back later to suggest their company your comments on this policy are welcome! First of all, the name Ripoff Report itself is a Ripoff Report because it can lead to such a one-sided slanderous  view of an event and I personally feel that Ripoff report should change their business practices.

Unfortunately, some employees in any workplace, no matter what business, choose to not obey the rules and to not respect property that does not belong to them. Business owners can only do so much to catch careless employees in the act and put a stop to this kind of behavior.

Needless to say in this case, that employee was no longer employed by A.B Hadley Co. after this incident.  The customer apparently did not know Boyd Hadley, the owner, very well to know that his response may have appeared to be a "care less" attitude, but in fact, he was quite upset about the issue and did address it. Boyd may not have had the very best communication skills to convey his serious concern, but it was dealt with.

This family owned and operated company has been in business SINCE 1931 and hasn't stayed in business this long by mistreating customers and ripping people off. Feel free to stop in anytime any we will be happy to treat you fairly.
