Mercantile Adjustment Bureau,llc I paid back in full the amount i owed on a credit card bill for the amt of 13,000 in five years. The citi card it was in default because my husband was out of work due to 9/11. When mercantile got in touch with me I agreed to pay 200.00 dollars a month. Well after 5 years of paying the original amt owed is a few hundred from being paid in full. now they are telling me I owe 26,569.00 dollars in interest. PLEASE HELP! williamsville New York

Mercantile Adjustments Bureau contacted me 5 years ago trying to collect a debt. The debt was a credit card bill from Citi Bank. it was in the amt. of 13,600.00. I agreed to pay 200.00 per month and did so. I owe 500.00 more untill the debt is paid in full. The reason I could not pay Citicard off was my husband was out of work due to 9/11.
MERCANTILLE is now saying I owe them another $26,568.10. When I called they was this amount was all interest. Please help! Can they really do this?
