Micha Deapen and Brooke Deapen dba M D Construction Demanded full payment for incomplete paint job to home. Pictures to prove poor workmanship. Continues to harass us us. Smithville Texas
My boyfriend and I wish we had done a little more research on Micha's business before he was hired to do a job. We wish we had seen the report published on Ripoff Report about him. Our experience is similar to Wade's. So much, in fact, I know we are talking about the same guy.
My boyfriend had 3 bids to consider. Micha's bid was in the middle. What sold my boyfriend is that Micha said he was trying to build his business and help his family. He wanted us to help pass business his way if he did a good job. My boyfriend, being new to our small community, thought it would be good to help out another member of our community trying to make a name for himself.
Now, and for over a year and half, Micha and his wife Brooke have been harassing us and using media to says lies about us. They say we are in the business of scamming people. They know nothing about our business. We have never done any other business with them before. We also take it seriously when we know we are being taken advantage of.
Micha insisted on money up front plus supplies which he got. For days at a time he wouldn't show up. We had a mother going into the hospital for brain surgery which he said he would get the job done before then. I think we gave him two weeks. He kept insisting on more money before the work was done saying he was broke and needed to feed his family and didn't have enough gas to show up for the job.
I told my boyfriend I would fire him from the job if it was my money. The work they had done was obviously poor or just not getting done like it should. He agreed but really didn't want it to turn out that way. He was being very patient with Micha because he said he had lots of family stuff to tend to. It was just too obvious he was taking advantage of him. It was already over a month.
My boyfriend had to hire another painter to do the job. He did a great job and finished in just a few of days with one helper. We have before pictures of what Micha called "finished" after he was fired and we have pictures after the job was completed by new painter.
Micha received approximately 2/3 payment and his wife continues to harass us for non-payment of the full payment for a completed job. We really don't wonder why they haven't filed a contractor's lien or taken us to court for their troubles. We have spared them any judgements at this time. We just hope this will help the next hard working person to avoid the same mistake of wanting to help out small town business folks. No wait, that would be a terrible thing to do!! Let's stop this guy from doing that!!!
