My son gave the president of this rescue cash for expensive dog food that they insist be fed to these dogs because they get free food for their dogs this way. Well I am guessing they bought their dogs food on my sons money. Many people say they don't use all the money donations for the rescue but manipulate it into their own lives.

At their reunion this year they told my son and others that they will be putting in a built in pool to exercise the rescue dogs. Yeah right...! That is some rescue...never in my life have I heard of such bull.

I have been with this rescue for 11 years and never have we insisted that anyone feed any particular brand of dog food. They have provided to me, at no charge, food for a foster in my care that could not eat what I normally feed due to age or medical condition. The President of this organization has had a pool for years. Funded by personal funds, not rescues. Mid Atlantic GSP Rescue is a reliable and trustworthy organization.

Mid-Atlantic German Shorthaired Pointer Rescue has been an exceptional organization. I have been a volunteer for 2.5 years and I have remained with the organization because they help the dog breed that I love to find new homes. I have always found the President to be honest and geniune. I have personally witnessed someone trying to give her money for gas. She turned the money down. Other volunteers have also been offered money for their time or gas and they have given that money to the rescue in the adopter's name as a donation. Although I was not at the reunion mentioned I know that it was at the President's home and she already has a pool, she would not be building a pool for rescue. If you are interested in adopting a dog through Mid Atlantic I would see for yourself how good of an organization it is and the dogs they rescue.

As the President of the non profit corporation mentioned, I can attest that no one has handed me cash for dog food. We receive tax deductible donations via Paypal or check for which receipts are produced and mailed to the person or persons donating. We do not insist that our foster homes feed any particular brand of dog food. There are many volunteers and many dog foods being fed to our rescue dogs. All of them purchased by our volunteers. We do have volunteers who are unable to incur this additional cost and for those volunteers the rescue fund does purchase dog food for them. It helps to save a dog via someone who might not be able to help if they had to incur additional expenses. Our yearly budget and expenses can be requested, we report to the State of Maryland on a yearly basis and we file tax forms with the IRS yearly, all of these are public information. This person is more than free to review these documents. To suggest that people who love this breed of dog and are trying very hard to save those who end up in unfortunate circumstances are being dishonest is a true travesty. To further verify that this person is lying, if they had truly been at the reunion they would have seen I already own a pool which I have had for years which is a second mortgage on my home, certainly not paid for by any rescue group. I hardly think there is any rescue group in existence that could afford the expense of a pool. Its simply a ludicrous statement. If anything, rescue is an expense to us as volunteers. We dedicate our own time, gas and money to help these dogs. Unfortunately this sounds like the initiative of an unhappy volunteer that we had to terminate due to unethical behavior. The volunteer now spends time trying to be vindictive instead of helping animals by some other means. A very unfortunate circumstance. This is just one more thing that we will file away, along with lots of other vindictive events that we may have to legally pursue if they continue. The Board of Directors is available for questions and comments and none of us has ever heard of the person who filed this report. Its sad to see that they too have allowed someone to manipulate them into doing something they themselves can't do because channels of speaking for or against this rescue has already been legally filed. I will forward this on to our rescue lawyer to see if she would like to make it actionable.

Not For Profit Rescue

All not for profit rescue organizations must give the IRS an accounting every year for money received and money spent. Did your son get a receipt for the cash donation? If not, he should have demanded a receipt. Any person who donates to the rescue groups I work with, whether it's cash, check, equipment or supplies, gets a receipt from the member taking the donation and that donation or the information goes directly to the head of the rescue organization. Unfortunately there may be groups out there who are not following the rules and those groups give all of us a bad name. I hope you are mistaken about this group using the cash for other things besides the rescues.

After putting a check not cash in the mail...I was told it wasn't received...but the check actually never made it to the rescue people and was returned to me for a wrong address.
