Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I used a parts search engine to find an engine for my Buick Regal Custom. This was one of the companies that responded with an engine that only had 41,000 miles and a 6 month warranty for only 595.00, so I called them. They said the engine was ready to ship and would arrive in 10 business days.

I ordered the engine and 10 days later nothing arrived at the shipping company who was supposed to receive it. I called the shipping company and they said they had no status of any order. I called Mid-city and they told me they were sorry, that the shipping company dropped the engine in Illinois and were finding me another engine with the same mileage, etc. I said ok, and to let me know this time when the engine arrives. They said ok. I called back almost two weeks later and the engine had been sitting at the shipping company with noone attempting to contact me. It was pouring down rain so I got the guy to forklift it out to my truck and took it home.

When I arrived home, I removed the plastic wrap and to my astonishment their stood an engine that had obviously rolled around on the ground for a while. Most of the electronic sensors had been broken, and the intake manifold, exhaust manifolds were scraped up, the throttle body was chipped and broken, the engine hangers were completely bent over the valve covers, the fuel rail was bent, and multiple other damages had occured.

I called the guy at Mid-city Auto Salvage the next day and he said all of that occured taking the engine out and I should use the other parts off of my old engine to replace them. I said I wanted half my money and he refused. I have been doing engine work for 13 years and also worked at Dodge as a mechanic. I know an abused/damaged engine when I see one. If parts removers actually did this to this engine, then they they need to get out of the business, but the guy was lying to me. He still told me there was a six month warranty on the engine nevertheless, so I am going to just replace everthing and go on, because I don't have the time.

Buyer beware of this company if you are looking for used auto parts/engines!

Doesn't surprise me the engine threw a rod within 24 hours of the engine being installed.

Folks, I know it is my fault for not having the engine installed until now, but I simply wanted to update to let you know the engine threw a rod within 24 hours of the engine being installed. You are right, someone needs to do something to shut this thief down. Let me know if I can help in any way.

#3Consumer Suggestion

Jim I suggest you beware that shaun will not honor your 6 month warranty. If you are having problems with your motor, i suggest you start seeking legal advice now. Shaun screwed one of my buddys over who purchased an engine from him. The motor went bad and my buddy called shaun to let him know what happened. Shaun pretended like he was doing something about it. After 3 weeks of twisting and turning stories with a million lies, my buddy got screwed over. Shaun even went on to tell him the motor was on the way. 3 weeks went by and no motor. My buddy called back and Shaun said he didnt give him a 6 month warranty and hes not gonna honor it. Everyone i know is seeking legal advice against this fraud crook. Its just a matter of time when this crook is put out of business for good. Game over Shaun

The reason BBB revoked our membership is because we did not want to pay their fees

The reason BBB revoked our membership is because we did not want to pay their fees for doing nothing. You can go WWW.FBAA.US and check our history with them and read up on BBB.

Absolutely agree with notes about the BBB

Yes, ripoffreport is correct about the BBB not to be trusted, that's why I did'nt use them (the BBB) before investigating this company. However, I think it VERY strange that even the BBB had so many bad things to say about this company even so far as to go and revoke their membership. I have never seen that scathing of a report given to anyone from the BBB. My whole point being that there are a lot of reports everywhere about this company, and none of them are good.

Mid-City Auto Salvage as they had their membership revoked

I understand that folks usually will report here if the Better Business Bureau does nothing for them, however a friend just showed me this on Wisconsin's BBB board. It speaks for itself about Mid-City Auto Salvage as they had their BBB membership revoked from them: http://www.wisconsin.bbb.org/commonreport.html?bureau=milw&compid=10000185&code=ZC

Shaun you're a liar and you know it. ..trying to shift some blame on someone else

Obviously by this statement Shaun made he is trying to shift some blame on someone else. Unfortunately for me, when I picked up the engine, it was pouring down rain in a deluge and they went back and picked up the engine and came out with it in the rain. That was my fault for not looking it over, trusting Mid-city to have kept their word and sent me a new engine. Shaun is blatantly lying about my refusing another engine. I talked to Mid-City and they told me specifically that the shipping company dropped the engine in Illinois and they received another car with the same mileage and would be shipping that engine out in a few days. I NEVER refused the engine, on the contrary, I accepted it as I WOULD NOT HAVE TAKEN A DAMAGED ENGINE voluntarily, who would? If the shipping company dropped both engines (which I highly doubt), then mid-city needs to find another shipping company. But if any of you reading this are betting persons, I would recommend putting my money on Mid-city being a bunch of lying rip-off artists instead of a sore bumbling shipping company who has been in business a long time who can't possibly ship an engine without rolling it across a parking lot and the company still uses them anyway! Also look up another report on them in here, seems I'm not the only one having problems with them (Mid-City). Anyhow, When I got home as stated earlier, this obviously was the original engine the shipping company dropped and Mid-City blatantly lied to me about shipping another engine. I asked for half my money because I had to transfer half the components, including major mechanical, from my old engine to the new. You make the judgement call. I am not one to complain, I simply deal with things the way they are given to me, but there are two types of people that aren't worth anything, and that's an unrepentant liar and a thief, and in Mid-City auto salvage you got the best of both worlds!

When ever a trucking company delivers an item, they have the customer sign a disclaimer stating that they have inspected that item before taking delivery. Even though the item is wrapped in see through plastic you can clearly see everything plus you are aloud to remove the plastic to get a closer look. Reason being is that if the item is damaged the trucking company is liable. The customer inspected the item and if found anything wrong he would never take delivery of the item and we would have been notified of that. This leads us to two conclusions. Either the customer dropped the egine or damaged it during the installation. Never the less we told him that we will not give half of the money but will send him a totally different engine. The customer refused. That is the last we have heard of him. Thank You,
