Mid City Rentals ripoff, fraudulent service Torrance California
I traveled miles to get to their office so they could help me get an apartment rental. All they gave me were some listings to go and find the places myself. They would negotiate the rental contract with the landlord once we found a place we liked.
Once we faxed our apartment choices, we didn't receive a response. They would not answer there phones, only a recorder. After a week or two of trying, I came to the realization that they skipped town with our $100 fee. I'm even sure that some people paid them first, last and deposit on a place, because I overheard a conversation when I initially went to the office. We were not able to move when we wanted and missed out on our college classes and a job lined up.
I live hundreds of miles from their office, so I could not stop by myself to see if they were really closed, but it was obvious they were.
So, to those who got ripped off too, these people have skipped town and are probably starting up again somewhere else. Beware not to go for ads that say, "Good credit/Bad credit" when it comes to finding a place to stay. The city authorities were not helpful either.
Also, I have submitted a complaint on www.bigclassaction.com to get a lawsuit started.
I ADVISE EVERYONE WHO FELL AS A VICTIM TO THEM TO SUBMIT IT TO THE SITE ABOVE, AS WELL AS HERE.
