MID FLORIDA CONTRACTING Dishonest fraudulent business practices intent to deceive and delay refund Lakeland Florida
I was Contacted by Pete Spaziano of Mid Florida Contracting for concrete work (driveway repair) and laying a concete pad as well as the construction of a pergola in both my backyard and on the side of the house.
Pete came over the house and gave me an estimate for the job. Pete asked for a deposit after we had agreed to the price of the project. He was very "smooth" and courteous, provided a copy of his drivers license, State of Florida Occupational Certificate, Insurance Liability Certificate and Ficticious Name Registration. The project was to begin 2/5/07 and be completed on 2/16/07.
No one showed up on 2/5/07 and I contacted Pete the following day. He gave me an excuse and told me that getting a "pump" and truck coordinated right was "complicated" and that he would have it all completed on time.
Pete sent 2 guys late February to clear the wooded area where the concrete pad was supposed to be poured. The guys who came over said that Pete owed them money and wouldnt come out until he paid them in advance.
I called Pete numerous times during the month of February-March-April with very little luck in receiving a call back. On one occassion, he told me that he was at a store purchasing supplies for the project. I overheard a TV and a baby crying in the background.
Pete agreed to a refund and said he would stop by on 4/7/2007. He never showed. I tried to call him and he did not answer his telephone. I finally made contact with him on Sunday and he said that he was going to stop by the house on Monday 4/9/07.
After multiple calls, no work, 2.5 MONTHS later, and a supposed "brain tumor" excuse, the concrete pad and Pergola project is not completed and Pete has refused to return a portion of our deposit.
I just got off the phone with Pete (407) 739-0658 (4/18/2007 @1115hours) and he told me he was waiting to receive the "refund" for the materials that he had purchased.
MID FLORIDA CONTRACTING is an obvious SCAM. We, consumers, need to prevent any/all people from doing business with this guy. He is a Rip-Off artist. Do not do business with this company because you will get RIPPED OFF!
