I have nothing more to say but John sent me an e-mail and he picked me in one and wants me to put this in, I have been reading through all the Midas complaints on this web site that are attributable to American dealers and I have to say that I feel sorry for those that have been badly done by. I have almost 30 years in the automotive industry and for much of that time one of my responsibilities was overseeing the satisfactory handling of customer complaints and minimising the fallout. At one stage I was employed by Midas in Australia for a number of years. While there would obviously be complaints that have been dealt with to the satisfaction of customers and they would not appear on this site, there appear to be far too many complaints that have been handled very poorly by a small number of dealers and Midas International. There are some that just don't make any sense given the information offered but many are typical of the mistakes that do unfortunately occur in any industry. Human error and a small measure of unscrupulous operators are a fact of life, unfortunately, everywhere. Anyone that would care to read through the entirety of complaints directed at Midas shops should see these as typical of those directed at all automotive repairers. The real problem for the customers involved in these complaints is obviously the poor handling of the complaints and for that Midas International have a need to investigate the training of all those involved and the ethics of some. Serious evaluation of all staff involved at all levels is required and an investigative follow up system should be introduced for all complaints. This systematic evaluation of complaints handling, and outcomes, should be a priority and an obligation for not only the benefit of customers, but for the majority of operators that perform to the highest level of competency and ethics. Then we come to the Midas Australia Franchisee complaints. I have heard these stories from old friends and they are stories about disgusting abuse and then disgusting neglect. In the complaints are violations of criminal law that have been ignored by the Australian government. The old maxim of justice is for those who can afford it obviously applies in Australia. Midas International then sacrifices any faade of ethical operations at a senior level as they simply wait out the complainants with the knowledge that eventually, if ignored, their finances and their moral will eventually expire. Who has the power to right this terrible wrong? YOU! Apparently the man to contact is a Mr. Al Marr of Midas International at [email protected]. Voice your outrage NOW.
